Default Tax evasion case filed vs Donna Cruz’s husband

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) filed Thursday a tax evasion case at the Department of Justice (DOJ) in Manila against the husband of former singer-actress Donna Cruz.

Cebu-based eye doctor Potenciano Larrazabal III is facing criminal charges for his alleged willful attempt to evade or defeat tax, and deliberate failure to supply correct and accurate information in his Income Tax Returns (ITR) for taxable years 2009, 2010 and 2011.

He is also facing charges for his alleged willful failure to file value-added tax (VAT) returns for the first, second, third and fourth quarters of taxable years 2009, 2010 and 2011 in violation of Sections 254 and 255 of the National Internal Revenue Code (NIRC) of 1997.

Dr. Larrazabal is being sued for his tax deficiencies over the three-year period amounting to P21,140,629.63, inclusive of surcharge and interest, as his civil liability.
