EQUIPMENT NEEDED TO HAVE INTERNET CONNECTION

Hello Guys,

I have an pc in my home which has no internet connection. I'm planning to subscribe to some ISP company. My problem is I don't have an idea on the equipment needed to setup the internet connection. I was reading on some topic in Istorya.Net but I didn't find a topic that discuss on the subject, though they mention something like router, modem, etc. but I'm confuse as to what things I need to buy to make internet up and running.
Please tell me what are the equipment needed? software needed? etc...

you must have at least:
*Pentium 1 or higher
*128MB RAM or higher
*100MB of free disk space
*CD-ROM (not really required)
* USB Port or Ethernet LAN Card
*Windows 98SE, 2000, ME or XP higher
*Microsoft Internet Explorer v.5 and up / Mozilla/Netscape or any browser

Others: router/modem or antenna - provided by ISP.

hardware:
for dial-up, you need a dial-up modem
for broadband, you need a lan/ethernet card
for wireless, you need a wifi adaptor

software:
for surfing, you need a browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, etc)

upon subscription, ask your potential ISP if you need additional equipment/software aside from those mentioned above.

if your computer is running with good specs and memory space, there's really no need to worry. the ISP is the one who'll provide the router/modem

Thanks for the nice advise guys. I'll take note on this one. By the way, below are the specs of my PC:
* Pentium 4
* I think 1G RAM
* OS is Windows XP
* DVD RW

I think all I need is to get an ISP and check if they provide a router/modem, if not then I'll have to buy one for me.
