    Default Vista OEM license


    my colleague just bought new fujitsu laptop with OEM Vista home basic pre-installed license then accidentally the OS crashed due to the end-user mistake. He installed new vista home using unlicense one coz' he dont have the oem installer cd and he used the license key from the sticker at the back of his notebook but its invalid when he activated thru online nor phone automated activation. is there a chance/way to recover the license?

    Yeah that's the problem with a lot of manufacturers these days. They don't actually give you a media copy of the OS and worst.. won't even supply you a restore disc. You either have to create the restore disc yourself (they normally provide you a shortcut on the desktop on how to create one) or recover the drive from the hard drive itself (most manufacturers create a separate partition on the drive which include the image for recovery).

    Your friend made a big mistake by using a different media thinking the key stuck on the notebook will work. If he had OS issues and wanted to restore factory defaults, he should have looked the recovery options on the Fujitsu notebook. Normally there will be a shortcut somewhere on Windows or tap a specific key on boot-up to start the recovery process. By using a different disc he could have easily formatted that image partition I talked bout earlier which was needed to the restoration. My advice is to call Fujitsu and ask for the recovery discs themselves or bring it to their nearest service agent.

    Another option is to ask another friend who may happen to have an exact copy of Vista Home Basic OEM (32bit or 64bit.. depending on what's installed on that Fujitsu notebook) on a disc. This way you can use his/her disc and then use the key that's on the bottom sticker of the notebook to do the installation.

    bitaw, naa man na restore options bai. or better yet nicontact sya sa fujitsu on how to restore it. akoa bitaw, 2x nako nag-ask ug copy sa akong OS ug utilities installer, nipadala man ang manufacturer. Dell nuon akoa.
