MANILA, Philippines – The US NCAA's single-game scoring record was shattered last night after a Division III player scored a stunning 138 points.

Jack Taylor of Grinnell College in Iowa put up 138 points in a 179-104 Division III win over Faith Baptist Bible. The 5-foot-10 sophomore fired an astounding 108 shots and made 52 of them. He made 27 of 71 attempts from beyond the arc.The previous NCAA record was 113 points, scored by Rio Grande's Clarence "Bevo" Francis against Hillsdale College in 1954. The Division I record is 100 points, set by Furman's Frank Selvy against Newbery College, also in 1954."There was a point during the second half where I hit a number of threes in a row, maybe seven or eight. I felt like anything I threw up was going in," Taylor said in an ESPN report."I've been in the zone before, but I've never taken so many shots." Faith Baptist’s David Larson scored 70 points on 34-of-44 shooting.NBA players were stunned when informed that a player had managed to score 138 points."That's impressive. That's crazy. I don't care what level you’re at. Scoring 138 points is pretty insane," Los Angeles Lakers superstar guard Kobe Bryant told ESPN. Bryant is known for his scoring prowess, having once scored 81 points in a single game, the second-highest total in NBA history after only Wilt Chamberlain's 100."I never heard of nothing like that. That's like a video game. How can you shoot 100 times, though?" said New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony.Three-time NBA scoring champion Kevin Durant, for his part, tweeted: "Jack Taylor you deserve a shot of Jack Daniels after that performance." – With a report from ANC

It is reposted in a related thread, here. Taking 71 3pt. shots and 101 shots is not efficient but a croc. lol. I've seen the replay of the game, weak defense.

If he scored 138 points, how many assist did his teammates have? Or was it mostly on isolation plays?
