Ask lang ko mga sir if possible ba nga dili mo function ang procie if wala cya'y thermal paste? Sorry noob ko ani gud..hehe. TIA.

Whenever you install a heatsink on a CPU or a video card, you always have to apply thermal paste. It is very crucial to the performance of the heatsink. You could get a very high-end heatsink, and without thermal paste, it will fail to work in the way it was designed too.

if dili ka mag OC, dili na maka guba dayon... pero, guba-on nya nya ug hinay2x... hehehe... the same lang gihapon ang end, ma guba ang CPU kay mag over heat man. pero, don't know kun pila pa ka months or years na maguba due anang subra ka init. in reality, subjective na sya... basta dili lang i-OC ha. kun i-OC kay stressed out ang CPU. taas ang voltage nya, so, kun dili nindot ang heat transfer, mo abot gyud sa over heat temp nya. mo system shutdown na ang PC. worst case will be, mo bigay ang mga internal components sa CPU w/c could lead to a dead one...

ang mga mobo, naa na'y temp protection sa CPU pud. once mo abot ang actual temp sa CPU sa cut-off temp, mo shutdown ang system to prevent any damage to the CPU.

for the record, and notebook PC nko dri sa office, old naman ni... 2007 pa. wla pa gud ko gi ilisan... nindot pa man gud ug nawon then it will still serves my need/application. tungod wla'y thermal paste na (wala gyud gi butangan sa amoang IT... wala'y PM... ka paets), mo init ni'g maayo. then mo shutdown... wla pa man gyud maguba ni sya oi para ilisan na ning unit nko dri... hehehe...

ang uban gani PC dha, wla gyud na maintenance. ang thermal paste ana nila kay ing kaging na. mura na'g white cement... pero, naguba ba? duda ko, wla man siguro...

@ TS, to answer your question directly... mo function ra ang CPU w/o thermal paste, pero, once maabot ang temp cut-off para sa temp protection, mo shutdown ang system kay init naman kaayo. dili man sya maka efficiently dissipate the heat... ma putol ang ka ligayahan nimo labi na nag games ka... or dili nimo ma save ang critical file/document...

mo function ra imong procie bsan walai TIM imong heatsink...kanang TIM filler na sa mga gap nga walai metal-to-metal contact between sa imong IHS & heatsink...if you can have near perfect contact between the two, then the TIM is not necessary...

bottomline, mo function of course... og sa tanaw nako dili maguba ang proc... mas init lang siya siguro compared sa naay TIM so check temps gyud and judge from there... ang maka guba kung walay heatsink...
