Fellow Investor,
This week, 150,000 people are in Las Vegas for a different kind of gambling.
Company executives, trendsetters, analysts and media are there gambling on what will be the next big things in technology.
The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is the world’s largest consumer technology tradeshow and has become THE place for companies to showcase the most innovative tech products they are developing.
The “wow” factor is big at CES, but the fact is that while the “showstoppers” grab the headlines, many never even make it to market.
You’ll also read a lot this week about the BIG products being announced at the show, like faster smartphones and Ultrabook laptops (super light, super thin yet powerful laptops will be all the rage in 2012).
But today, I want to tell you about some of the overlooked, yet very exciting innovations that you’ll actually see coming your way in 2012.
-
Gorilla Glass 2. A cracked screen on your mobile device is either impossible or very expensive to fix. That’s why the strength of that glass is key. Gorilla Glass is already used on many smartphones and mobile devices today. But Gorilla Glass 2 is thinner, lighter AND stronger. So strong, that people couldn’t break it no matter how hard they tried! Check out how hard they tried…
- “Waterproof” tablet. AT&T is promoting Pantech’s Element tablet as the first “splashable” tablet. I think saying it’s waterproof is a stretch, but this is a first big step toward one of the holy grails in mobile devices—making them stand up to water.
-
Travel Router. For those of us who can’t imagine NOT getting Internet access while on the road, D-Link has introduced a travel router that plugs right into a wall outlet and is no bigger than a mouse. Imagine getting a wireless signal anywhere a network exists... it’s a huge breakthrough for business travelers.
-
Wall Plate Charger. This simple yet brilliant device from RCA turns any normal electrical outlet into a USB charger for up to two devices. No more worrying about whether you remember to pack your USB phone or computer charger!
And those are all from just the first day of the show! I can’t wait to see what other innovations are unveiled throughout the week.
If you want to stay on top of all the new products being announced at the show, Engadget.com has a fantastic live stream from the show.
P.S. Investing in the visionary companies behind today’s biggest tech and medical innovations is the surest, fastest way to outsized profits. Innovation is the reason my GameChangers readers pocketed 16 double-digit winners in 2011 while the market went nowhere. If you’ve had enough after 10 long years of next to nothing returns, it’s time to try a smarter, proven way to make money in 2012. |
