Default 'Innocence of Muslims' Director Arrested, US Intelligence say Attacks Planned Not Reaction by Video

Dropping the hammer against free speech, the Obama administration has ordered the arrest of the man behind the film that parodies Islam and Muhammad a few days ago. However, US INTELLIGENCE by then knew the attack in Benghazi were planned by terrorists as anniversary for 9-11 not just riots caused by the anti-Islamic film. Yet a few days ago Obama himself continues to point the film as the source for riots that caused several deaths including the US ambassador Stevens and consulate.

What does the new Egyptian government have in common with the U.S. Justice Department under Barack Obama?

Both have desired to arrest the man behind the crude anti-Muslim film that allegedly sparked demonstrations throughout the Middle East, including the one in Libya that ended in the deaths of four Americans at a U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

That’s expected of a country like Egypt. It’s disturbing for the United States.

Yes, filmmaker Nakoula Basseley Nakoula (that’s only one of his names) was arrested for violating the terms of his parole on a bank fraud conviction, not for making the film, “Innocence of Muslims.” Apparently, one of the conditions of his parole was that he not access the Internet for a time.

But as this Wall Street Journal piece notes, the Justice Department doesn’t go after everyone who violates a term of parole like that. Not only was he arrested, he was denied bail and deemed a flight risk.
I’ll stipulate that the film he made is disgusting and a misrepresentation of the Muslim faith. He apparently also faces problems with a principal actress, who claims he never told her what the film was about.
But in this country, it isn’t a crime to make an offensive movie. If it were, much of Southern California would be in lockdown.

As this piece on the First Amendment notes, if we start punishing people for making misleading religious films, we would soon lose our freedom of religion, as well as of speech. Which government board would be put in charge of reviewing all films before they are deemed worthy to show?
It seems as if Obama is trying awfully hard to placate Islamic extremists. On the one hand, he talks about the freedom of expression. On the other, the government has tried to persuade YouTube to remove the video (which it hasn’t done), and it has arrested the filmmaker.

This is basically why I despise the Obama admin. First, he urges us to support the Arab Spring movement that will supposedly bring in freedom, liberalism and democracy in the Middle East. Of course, the opposite is taking place. Whether this is intentional or his foreign policy is weak is a different matter. Either way we know the world will face more problems in that area due to Obama's fondness for "Change" which is just another world for revolution.

Despite all these, Obama seems to have no problems coming on to Americans who voted for him and deliberately violate their rights for free speech. Even arresting them as in the case for the filmmaker. Meanwhile appeasing Muslims around their world by his countrymen's "behavior".

I'm not for conspiracy theories and I don't want to sound like one, but there's no denying this is just how it looks like. It comes across that the Obama administration is using that video's notoriety to an actual terrorist attack under the cover of the recent riots to hide that failed foreign policy of theirs. For me, whatever their agenda is it is very dangerous to Free Speech. If they can arrest the filmmaker for vague accusations [and they did] I'm pretty sure they'll find a way to criminalize particular sides of free speech.

Obama is disappointing, but Romney could be a disaster. I'm not expecting the USA to bounce back anytime soon and these concessions being made to Islamists are counterproductive IMO.

Basaha nang 1984 ni George Orwell, A Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, or We by Yevgeny Zamyatin. I'm not a believer of the Utopian concept, the Communist tried this already many times in the 20th century, they wanted to make a "perfect society" and we all know what happened...Unfortunately we never get as much information of their twisted political strategy, the cruelty and the deaths brought by Communism because the media concentrates more with Nazis (default Hollywood bad guys).

Troubles going on around the world might be a good sign because it means people are fighting for what they believe in (even if we don't agree with it) it shows us that we are different and all attempts to make us equal are futile. We should be more afraid to wake up one day and realize we are all alike with no independent thoughts or opinions - just servants for the State - like machines.

I think part of his parole was that he's not allowed to access to the internet . So they might have reason to believe that it was him who posted an audition notice on backstage.com and uploaded the trailer on YouTube . I don't think he was arrested for that anti-Islam movie he made but for breaking his parole .

That is the official statement. There's also some talk he's kept for his own safety. Either way it brings a bad message for free speech to appease a particular group.
