Default K to 12, bakit native tongue ang advise ng DepEd?

my daughter studies at a public school. i though k-12 is supposed to globalized the education here in our country, but how come their exams are in native tongue? my kid is a 2nd grader and all the materials they use for exams like math are in native tongue, visayan in our area.

what's the reason for this? i tried contacting deped but their website sucks.

you'll be surprise what google can give you, anyways its only for kindergarten to grade 3

    2. Mother Tongue-Based Multilingual Education. The mother tongue will be the medium of instruction from kindergarten to grade 3. This includes the following: Tagalog, Kapampangan, Pangasinense, Iloko, Bikol, Cebuano, Hiligaynon, Waray, Tausug, Maguindanaoan, Maranao, and Chabacano. Medium of instruction will be English and Filipino starting grade 4

the justification of implementing MTB-MLE is from The Lingua Franca Project (1999-2001) and the Lubuagan Project (1999 up to the present)
Source: PIA | Philippine Information Agency | DepEd set to start mother tongue-based instruction in public schools in SY 2012-2013

if you want you can transfer your kid sa private school... naka onhold paman na sa ilaha.... unless naay update nga wala nako nakit-an

Source: DepEd: Use of mother tongue by private schools still on hold

actually its NOT entirely jud nga mother-tounge i heard sa ako sis-inlaw nga mixed siya kay some terms are easier to explain in english... either way... ok ni siya nga idea

unless parents want to train their kids to be a call center agent someday... *no PUN intended*

The purpose of K12 is to globalize the education (patterned after the education system that is widely used) but not to make them fluent English speaker. For public schools, better man ang bisaya para makasabot ang bata sa discussion. But sa exam? I don't think so. Math pa jud?

    I. Pagkalkulo:
    1. lima dugangan og usa
    2. kalim-an kuhaan og napulo ug duha
    3, kap-atan ug tulo pilu-piluon katulo

BTW, I agree that DepEd website sucks..and so are the people behind them. Ang sayop nga reviewer ako gi-raise up about a year ago na until karon walay official response. Gi-refer ra to some office. Wala sad ko kalugar visit ilaha office jud, and I am not sure what to expect if I do.

    I don't see the problem..

I think in order for this country to be united linguistically, we need to gradually phase-out Tagalog, Cebuano, and other Philippine languages from daily usage especially in mass media and education and replace it with English and Spanish in order for us to be globally competitive.
