We are proud to tell you that punk kings of the south The Ambassadors garnered a prestigious award for Favorite MYX Bandarito Performance at the recently held MYX Awards!
The band beat out the equally-deserving musicians such as SOUND, CHILITEES, SILENT SANCTUARY and FASPITCH.
In another development, the continuing sound of the punk south will be performed by only three members of The Ambassadors as Phillip “Iping” Amores (Vocalist) will bow out, taking a short hiatus as he gets his stuff together back home in Cebu.
When reached for comment, Iping replied, “My family needs me right now and I have a new baby that I really feel I should spend time with. It’s important to me and the guys understand this. It won’t be any different because The Ambassadors as a three-piece band for the meantime is just as punk rock if there were four, five or even six members in the band. This is temporary and I’ll definitely get back on track soon. For now, I owe it to the guys in the band who understand what’s going on and still insist on rocking out with the best in the Philippines.”
Iping further commented that he may be taking a year off away from the band, passing most of the vocal duties to Bai (Lead Guitarist), who is now tackling the task as main vocalist. In fact, The Ambassadors have already been playing the rounds in some bars in Manila and Cebu as a trio and it doesn’t get anymore punk rock than this! The band is more excited than ever to continue playing and can’t wait to punk out when they front for one of their own personal hero’s, San Francisco’s NOFX, who will be playing in Manila in April 18 at the Amoranto Theater Hall (beside Amoranto Stadium) in Quezon City.
“We can’t believe this is happening!” comments Bai, referring to the upcoming concert. “This is going to be something fun. NOFX from San Francisco, King Ly Chee from Hong Kong, Urbandub, Faspitch and The Ambassadors representing the sound of the south! Coupled with the recent MYX award that we just won for Bandarito Performance, this is definitely going to be a year for the punks.”
