Emperor scorpion just have babies. What to do?

Hi All,

Can anyone identify if this is already molted to 2nd instar? when they came out they are white and its been 2-3 weeks and they look different and larger now. From color white to brownish. I did not see any exoskeleton anywhere, Can anyone identify if its a 1st instar or a 2nd instar? Thanks.

Birthing should be complete within 24 hours. This may not apply to every species, but does in this specie. They will often consume their young. Disturbing them will encourage this behavior. Many scorpions may double clutch, having two birthing events from one mating. They do this by storing the sperm for long periods of time. They can also "hold off" birthing to deal with weather patterns etc.

Caring for the babies is easy if you know emperors already. The only difference is they generally like higher humidity. Also, young scorpions are much more likely than adults to eat one another. In light of this, most scorpion hobbyist keep young separate. (Many keep all separate, but that is a different story) A bit of shredded coco brick, kept well moist but not wet, a bit of cork bark is nice. Water dishes are not always used with young because of drowning worries. So mist every couple days depending on substrate condition.

Oh, and like human children, scorpions grow quickly and need lots more food when doing so. So plan on increasing your feeding schedule as compared to the adult. Pre-killed roaches (crickets etc) can be used if you have no access to small feeders. good luck!

Congrats bro. chubals03: pasagdi lang ang emp bro. ayaw lang sige tan-aw kai ma-stress unya. mao na hinungdan nga kaonon nila ila slings. pero be sure na naa water. suwaye lang sad butangan og sub-adult na lats, basin mokaon ang mother.

after about a week kai magmolt ang mga slings, then manaog nana sila. then pwede na nimo kuhaon ang slings, unya ibalhin isa2 sa deli cups, unya tagai og gagmay na lats.
