The introduction of Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition may have distrurbed the product lineups of some of AMD's bigger add-in board (AIB) partners, especially those with recently-launched or upcoming factory-overclocked HD 7970 (standard), but Club 3D is unfazed. The company is perhaps the industry's first with a HD 7970 GHz Edition SKU.Carrying the model number CGAX-7977SO, the card by Club 3D sticks to AMD's reference design, for both the PCB and cooling assembly, with just company branding stickers to make for the difference. The card even sticks to reference clock speeds of 1000 MHz (GPU), 1050 MHz (PowerTune Boost), and 6.00 GHz (memory), for the Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition. Based on the 28 nm Tahiti silicon (Tahiti XT2 variant), the Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition is driven by AMD Graphics CoreNext architecture, with 2,048 stream processors, 128 TMUs, 32 ROPs, and a 384-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, holding 3 GB of memory. The card supports PCI-Express 3.0 x16 bus interface, draws power from 6 pin + 8 pin PCIe power connectors, and its display outputs include dual-link DVI, HDMI, and two mini-DisplayPort connectors. Club 3D Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition will even stick to AMD's suggested price of US $499 (S $637), though a small (+$20) mark-up could be added, depending on the region.
