Default MSI Slider S20 Windows 8 Sliding Ultrabook Pictured

MSI put to rest the looming question of whether it has Ultrabooks planned, by unveiling one of the industry's first implementations of Intel's "Letexo" sliding-Ultrabook form-factor, which was first shown to the world at IDF Beijing, 2012. MSI's Slider S20 is a Wintel at heart, combining 22 nm "Ivy Bridge" processor with Windows 8.
Pictured above, the Slider S20 from MSI is a slider-Ultrabook. It combines the functionality of a tablet, thanks to its responsive touchscreen, with that of a notebook, thanks to its slide-out base, which has a chiclet keyboard, for those extended typing sessions. At this point, we're unsure if the keyboard portion has a trackpoint, or if the touchscreen ends up being the only pointing device. In marketing videos from both Intel and Microsoft, we've seen people using the touchscreen to point, and the slide-out keyboard for typing, so we guess that's the case with the Slider S20, too. The Slider S20 will have a full range of connectivity found with conventional (clamshell) Ultrabooks, including USB 3.0 ports, WLAN b/g/n, and possibly 3G/4G. It is driven by Microsoft Windows 8 operating system, and a dual-core Intel "Ivy Bridge" Core low-voltage processor. MSI will display the Slider S20 at its Computex booth. It also raises hope that the company has a full-fledged Ultrabook lineup, in the works.
