    Default Camera Maintenance Questions

Hi! I'm a new owner of a Kissx4 but am no stranger to photography. I've been thinking of getting a dry box and cleaning kit. Medyo na paranoid ko when I learned about lens fungus. So ask lang ko....

    1. How long does it take before a lens gets attacked by fungus? Experience lang sa mga Cebu area, if humidity sa Cebu kay maka fungus.
    2. Kailangan jud ang dry box or are there cheaper alternatives?
    3. How do you detect fungus sa camera lens?

    Thanks much sa mutubag...

    1. How long does it take before a lens gets attacked by fungus? Experience lang sa mga Cebu area, if humidity sa Cebu kay maka fungus.
Its depends where you store your gear. Remember fungus thrives on dark and damp enviroment.

    2. Kailangan jud ang dry box or are there cheaper alternatives?
I would suggest making DIY dry box from a tupperware or sealed plastic container then buy some silica gel to absorb the moisture within the container.

    3. How do you detect fungus sa camera lens?
Usually you will notice it when you take a image, instead of a blob its kinda branched spec. I would suggest inspect your lens every twice a month.

Thanks au, esp sa DIY advice. I found a great online tutorial. Definitely a lot cheaper than the ones sold in shops.

I have 2 kit lens, one of which is an old one given to me by a friend. I did some test shots just today on the old one because I was planning to sell it. AF is really good and fast, but upon closer inspection, I noticed something on the glass. I'm getting paranoid, and I've pulled out all my ads. Can you or anyone tell me if this is fungus?

best alternative is keep on shooting... kung cge ka shoot di mag fungus ang lens... ako Nikon 50mm f/1.8D, 4 years nah.. wa pa gud ka tilaw ug fungus and never will... pero kung naa kai lens mag standby alucard's answer is the cheapest solution.. another cheap alternative kay kanang china2x na box with a hydrolometer inside... tag Php2.9k, you can get this sa mga photoshops here check lang PRG photoshop (Baseline), F8 (Eden's place, near Harold's hotel) or Macy's (AS Fortuna)
