    Hello Everybody~!

I'm been getting back to reading the latest manga recently and being exposed to ongoing storylines! Thus I am plagued by intriguing questions!

This thread will hopefully serve as as unified thread. Readers, enthusiasts of any manga or anime can post their questions here and those who consider themselves as serious fans, insiders and scholars of manga and anime can help answer and give background information to clear any questionable issue!

I would like to request the following for those who will post:

    2) Please remain to be polite even in posting. If any of you would disagree, please disagree politely. Keep your tempers in check. Its just manga and anime!

Okay lemme here's the first question!

In Hiromu Arakawa's Full Metal Alchemist MANGA, what is the relationship between the Elric Brothers' father Van Hohenheim and the mysterious 'Father' of the Homunculi? Opinions? Current information? Anyone?

^^@x0x0, there have been many anime and manga characters who are into photography or working as professional photographers...

One comes to mind is the male character of Ueno, an aspiring photographer, who is Aki Mizutani's love interest in "Bittersweet Rain", Episode 4, Summer Volume of the youth-oriented highschool romance anime BOYS BE. The entire episode was devoted to how photos can be the reflection of the heart of the photographer.

Another is Ran Hibiki of CAPCOM's "Rival Schools" fighting game series whose fighting prowess was in being a very skilled photographer and news reporter, even having a move where she interviews an opposing character.

But if you're talking about an anime/manga which is solely devoted to the craft and study of photography as the main background for its story and characters, giving readers an intimate and knowledgeable view into photography... then I would say there is NONE yet so far... Just try to GOOGLE it and you'd come up with nothing.

@x0x0, hope this helps with your question.

As otaku make up a good portion of the creative forces behind anime and manga, it is only natural that several works of manga and anime on otaku culture have appeared, often as a light-hearted pastiche. Some of the more famous works include:

    Otaku no Video

A pair of films that follow a young college student as he is introduced into the world of the otaku by a high school friend and soon spends the next several years trying to become the greatest otaku, the Otaking. The work also serves as a semi-autobiographical account of the formation of Gainax, and is inter-cut with several live-action mock interviews with several different types of otaku.

    Comic Party

Originally a series of dating sims which was then adapted into various anime and manga series, Comic Party follows a rejected art student as he is enthusiastically thrust into the dōjinshi scene by a crazed otaku friend. He then creates several of his own dōjinshi works while interacting with other artists and dealing with his girlfriend who is at first less than enthusiastic about his new passion.

    Genshiken
A manga later adapted into an anime series which follows a "catch-all" otaku college club and the various activities they become involved in. Much of the story is told from the perspective of two characters: a freshman who grows into his otaku identity; and the girlfriend of another member who disapproves the passions of her attractive, but clueless, otaku boyfriend.

Densha Otoko: Densha Otoko ("Train Man") is the allegedly true story of a Japanese geek in his early 20s who saves a beautiful woman ("office lady"), code-named Hermès by the geek in his online chats, from a drunken groper on a train, and then chronicles his subsequent dates with the woman and requests for help on the Japanese mega-BBS 2channel (in the TV series referred to and remodeled into the semi-fictitious "Aladdin Channel").

    Welcome to the NHK!

A novel that was adapted into a manga and later an anime series, Welcome to the NHK! is a black comedy that follows a delusional hikikomori, a girl that wishes to help him, and an otaku neighbor who is also an old high school friend (of convenience). The series lampoons many otaku themes such as lolicon, moé, and dojin soft.

2)Who's the skull knight in the Berserk manga and what is his relation to the 5 God Hands?

@romm3l yes bro. Watsuki Nobuhiro, like many young otaku turned mangaka, was an ardent fan of Japanese history, particularly of the turbulent Tokugawa-Meiji transition period. From these times, legends were born.

Many considered Watsuki's Rurouni Kenshin (aka Samurai X) as a 'historical romance', basically fantasy set in actual events in history or using historical figures. This is how the manga become so popular since it seemed 'possible', involving well-known and revered people in history.

You can read about the real Saito Hajime in any world encyclopedia but for your convenience you could also look him up sa Wikipedia:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hajime_Saito

You could also read about the Shinsen-gumi here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinsengumi

One of Saito's compatriots, Okita Souji was also briefly featured to have a sword spat with Battousai. He's also a true historical figure.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Okita_Souji

And also the man who was the only one of the three pillars of the Meiji Restoration who begged Kenshin to deal with the ghost Shishio Makoto before he himself was assassinated, Toshimichi Okubo.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Okubo_Toshimichi

Even Battousai himself was modeled after three 'secret' slashers, assassins who have earned some renown in the annals of history but couldn't be exactly named. Thus, these slashers become celebrity mysteries and are often used in popular literature. The same way with the mystery of England's Jack the Ripper.

Actually bro, I haven't read the graphic novel but seen the film though. So I'll let others share their input for this question.

The Skull Knight's true identity remains a mystery well-discussed by the avid fans of the manga. But the general consensus is that he could be Gaiseric, the legendary 1st Emperor, because of his recorded exploits and the fact that he rode a skull-shaped helmet into battle.

Please refer to these online sources:

    http://skullknight.net/encyclopedia/...Skull%20Knight

As for his relationship with God Hand, it is possible that he may have encountered them before and faced them as foes/rivals. The God Hand may have been the instrurment that could have led to the destruction of the 1st empire.

It is also discussed that the role of God Hand is to spread chaos and change so as to 'aid' the humanity in the Berserk universe to evolve and become stronger.

Considering this, I remember the film Constantine starring Keanu Reeves and Rachel Weisz. When it was found out that the one who was behind the dark birth of the Devil's son Mammon into our world was actually the Angel Gabriel; s/he explained the reason of her rebellion like so:

Gabriel: [Gabriel sits on top of John Constantine, explaining her rebellion] You're handed this precious gift, right? Each one of you granted redemption from the Creator - murderers, rapists, molesters - all of you just have to repent, and God takes you into His busom. In all the worlds and all the universe, no other creature can make such a boast, save man. It's not fair.
    [leans closer to Constantine's face]
If sweet, sweet God loves you so, then I will make you worthy of His love. But it's only in the face of horror that you truly find your noble self, and you can be so noble. So... I will bring you pain, I will bring you horror.
[Gabriel lifts up Constantine from his collar]
So that you may rise above it. So that those of you who will survive this reign of hell on earth will be worthy of God's love.

Maybe that's the God Hand's purpose in the Berserk Universe or something like that.

^afaik, the God's Hand in coop w/ the millenium/king egg comes only to those who are in great need for power for a price. For what purpose, no light has been shed on this area yet. yeah, read the Gaiseric guy before but so far in the manga interpretation one of the God's Hand addressed the knight as highness or somethin. so I was thinking that the god hand used to serve under Gaiseric when they used to be human flesh. even the forums in skullknight.net haven't overlooked on this yet.

as for the 300 thing, notice the similarities between the Persians(300) and the Kushans(berserk)? like reaaally similar. hehehe.
