Default For Asthmatics: Aromatherapy for Asthma

I have been diagnosed with severe asthma 15 years ago. The true-blue asthmatic that I am, I never leave the house without my beloved Rotadisk. Yes, sweetie, I nurture a passionate love affair with salbutamol. Day in and day out, I always prepare for acute asthma attacks as I am allergic to fumes, dust, dander, and pollen. Heck, even changes in temperature and extreme emotions often leave me short of breath.

I am so sick of the number of medications prescribed by my pulmonologist that I decided to read on the health benefits of aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy means "treatment using scents". It refers to a particular branch of herbal medicine that uses concentrated plant oils called essential oils to improve physical and emotional health and restore the balance to the whole persona. These oils have been used therapeutically for thousands of years. Ancient Vedic literature of India and historic Chinese and Arabic medical texts document the importance of aromatic oils for health and spirituality.

weakness, palpitations, and muscle tremors are side effects of ventolin. nakapagod talaga. when i was hospitalized, i did not respond to ventolin anymore so i was given combivent. mas matinik yun! buti nalang na-relieve ako.

btw, did you know that taking milk and milk products can, in fact, increase mucus production and ultimately cause asthma attacks?

share lang pud ko.. i too am asthmatic. during my elementary and high school days, i used to have attacks. both acute and kanang medyo grabe. almost every two months confined ko pirmi sa hospital. the doctor advised if i could do some exercises, hinay hinay lang, which i did. my asthma conditions improved.

right now i still have my ventolin rotadisk but one disk would last to about a month..

Hi, Makoy. Thanks for sharing. I do have seasons wherein I do not have asthma attacks. But I think that was 5 years ago pa. Karun, naa najud ko nebulizer and stock sa COMBIVENT and VENTOLIN. Para iwas hospital. I am on SYMBICORT also, this is more for prevention (very costly!). But i think it is very effective kay wala pa man ko asthma attacks after nako na-discharge from hospital so far ha. Buyag!
