In addition to the Envy Spectre XT, HP also announced an additional four Envy notebooks, the 14 and 15.6-inch Envy Sleekbooks and the Envy Ultrabooks. The main difference is that the Ultrabooks will be Intel only, whereas the Sleekbooks will feature Intel and AMD processors, with the Sleekbooks having a lower starting price.
For whatever reason HP figured it was a good idea to offer its new Envy models with the current generation of Intel ULV processors, rather than wait for early June when Intel’s Ivy Bridge ULV processors become available. As such, both the Sleekbooks and Ultrabooks are available as of right now in the US, although the 15.6-inch Sleekbook won’t arrive until late June, as it’ll feature a second generation APU from AMD.
Common features include a standard screen resolution of a mediocre 1366x768, the aforementioned CPU options, 4GB of DDR3 1600MHz memory, hard drives in the Sleekbooks and hard drives with 32GB mSATA SSD’s for caching in the Ultrabooks, 802.11/a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, HDMI and an SD card reader. All models will also sport beats branded speakers and an HD webcam. HP will also offer an optional discrete AMD Radeon HD 7670M GPU with 2GB of dedicated graphcis memory with some of the SKUs.
The 14-inch models weight in at 1.81kg and all models are apparently 19.8mm at their thinnest point. HP claims up to 8h of battery life for the 14-inch models and up to 9h battery life on the 15.6-inch models. The Intel equipped Ultrbooks also supports Intel’s Rapid Start, Smart Response and Smart Connect technologies.
Price wise the 15.6-inch Sleekbook will be the cheapest model with a starting price of US$599.99 (S$750), followed by its 14-inch sibling at US$699.99 (S$875), the 14-inch Ultrabook at US$749.99 (S$940) and finally the 15.6-inch Ultrabook at US$799.99 (S$1,000). All models will come in the two tone black/red colours you see in the pictures, as well as a brushed metal and black finish for a US$25 price premium. In the US it appears that the 14-inch Sleekbook will be known as the Envy 4t series and the 15.6-inch Ultrabook will be known as the Envy 6t series.Source: HP
