Having decided that HTC sensation as my next phone, I'm planning to save up while the price of the phone will go down. I tried to squeeze 1 more year with my HTC desire. With only a few hours of reading forums regarding flashing HTC phones, I was anxious to try it out on my own for the first time. I followed all the instructions to the letter, until it was time to flash the gingerbread edition. I thought the flashing went smoothly until the phone rebooted. It just stays on the splash screen. I've read in the forums that the first boot may take 10-15 minutes. After 30 minutes I took out the battery since I can't turn it off using the power button. I tried to reboot it , but the same thing happened. Later that afternoon I found out that my microSD card was faulty. I was surprised since I just repartitioned the card an hour ago in preparation for the flashing. And now my computer can't read it. Got my extra microSD card and went back to repartitioning. Thankfully my phone can still access the bootloader at startup and the flashing work beautifully. And now I'm tinkering with my "new" HTC desire Gingerbread. A lesson learned, I'll check the microSD for defects the next time I'll flash my phone.

When I first tried rooting my LG Optimus One, I ran into problems because all the instructions were for Windows but I was running Arch Linux. The method I used wouldn't complete properly and I ended up with a device that wouldn't even turn on. Luckily, I was able to fix the problem in Fastboot mode and now everything is working beautifully.
