I once had a heated conversation with somebody very close to me about stereotyping beautiful, especially here in Istorya. I said, I think it sounds very unfair for istoryans to exhibit or define beauty like beauty magazines do. When we say beautiful we talk about perfect shaped face, body, flawless skin, fair, chinita's, mestiza's, however you wanna define that's what society refers to as beautiful. I gave him a couple of my reasons why I don't like istoryans focusing discussions on who's pretty, prettiest, handsome, handsomest (ironically i just opened a new thread but ey if you get the flow... you hardly see women discussing who's handsome or not which kinda gave me an impression of you know... why don't they "women" do it too, let's see how the opposite gender reacts) and was surprised and shocked that he told me I was deeply insecure, that is about my rather strong "activism against beauty stereotyping". I was outraged unsurprisingly.
Why do I say it's not proper and it is unfair?
Yes, a woman or a man should never base his self-worth over what everybody considers as beautiful or handsome or what beauty magazines display on their covers. But I was more concerned of what impression it would impact "istorya" as a friendly community. If you recall our forum song lyrics it has clear emphasis to equality, ma tambok ka, ma daut, ma datu, ma purdoy we believe we are one. What I've been noticing lately though is... more attention is given to the pretty and the handsomes which for me is discriminatory to the untypical beautiful woman or untypical handsome guy. B
Bisan unsaon nato ug rason nga dili na basehan sa self-worth sa usa ka taw but nobody is perfect. Let me speak in behalf of the timid, insecure, no self-confidence member nga naa gani uban maulaw mo attend ug eb. Unsa man kaha'y bation nila kung mosulod sila sa istorya nga ang mga taw mahilig man kaayo ug gwapo or gwapa and are even openly talking about them? Ako, I'm always a fighter against underdogs man gud which probably explains why I started this topic.
I always believe that everybody is beautiful and it is not right (and I apologize kay naka reply ko sa mga topics but later on realized this is not sounding right anymore).
We're all God's gifts wrapped in different papers.
I suggest all discriminatory threads be deleted as they promote a wrong concept of beauty and simply sukwahi sa katuyuan sa istorya. Hala diskurso!
