More details are out on a new low cost 7-inch tablet from Toshiba which had some of its pre-release photos leaked out at the beginning of January. We now know the official model name for this tablet, LT170 and its final appearance looks much like the one seen back in January with a black and blue color scheme. Thanks to details leaked via Notebook Italia we now have a bunch of specs to share about the LT170. First and foremost, it happens to be powered by a 1GHz Freescale i.MX53 SoC (System-on-Chip) which comprises a single Cortex A8 core and is paired with 512MB of DDR3 memory.
Storage comes in the form of 8GB flash memory as standard which can be expanded upon thanks to the inclusion of a microSD slot as well as the ability to connect other external storage devices via the micro-USB port. Other features include a front mounted 0.3MP webcam and rear facing 2MP camera, an accelerometer and ambient light sensors. This little 7-inch (1024 x 600) Android-running tablet weighs in at just 362g and is 11.5mm thick. It's powered by a Li-ion battery which Toshiba says will provide up to seven hours of use in video playback mode.
As for pricing, apparently it will strike at 299 EUR (just under US $400) and can already be found for pre-order at select online retailers.
