The rumours about Intel's upcoming Ivy Bridge processors never seem to take a pause these days and the latest ones are suggesting that Intel is considering reducing its pricing to its partners. This is not the kind of move you'd expect from Intel at the launch of a new processor family and we'll see how this one plays out.In a story talking about hybrid storage in Ultrabooks, Digitimes casually mentions that “In order to promote Ivy Bridge, Intel will lower processor prices by US$60-70 on average”. This would be highly irregular for Intel, as normally the company has a fairly set pricing structure and any discounts tend to go via its co-marketing program where Intel helps promote specific products. It's not clear if this discount only relates to Ultrabooks or if it will apply to other Ivy Bridge processor SKUs as well. What is certain though is that the Ivy Bridge launch is something of a disaster already and from what we've heard via the grapevine, things aren't set to improve any time soon. Sadly we can't say more than that yet, but hopefully we'll be able to give you more information once Cebit kicks off. The good news is that if you're not overly concerned about having a cutting edge notebook, Sandy Bridge notebooks are expected to get a lot cheaper in the run up to the Ivy Bridge launch.Source: Digitimes
