i was also diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse almost two years ago. i understand what you've been trough, the chest pain almost everyday on mine, can't even sleep lying sideway on my left, the palpitations... i even went to ER for a nth times because of chest pain folowed by a panic attack, thought i'm going to have heart attack! after my 2d echo says i had mvp i tried to keep everything easy, taking everything slow and that made me gain 20 lbs in almost 2 years beause im afraid to do things. it's just last january as part my new years resolution to loose weight i enrolled in gym, starts with the non-cardio exercise like lifting 2lbs dumbells and stretching. on my 2nd week i tried treadmill for 15 minutes and stationary bike for 15 minutes, 3 sets of crunches. later, i participate tae bo and boxing. now i can do 30 minutes treadmill 6k/hr speed without stoping.
now its my 7th week glad i lost 8 lbs and seldom experience chest pain, i do palpitate sometimes but i always have my iterax and atenolol with me to slow my heart beat when i need to. my doc said it doesnt have cure unles want a valve surgery but its up to us how to deal with it. many atletes also have mvp, just ask your doctor for a stress test or you can start non-cardio exercise like me then hinay hinay lang...
walking 30mins everymorning
