    Hi Shane.

Family-based immigration does not happen overnight, so I suggest that you do not halt your activities waiting for that big day to happen very soon. Continue your studies while you can.

There are talks that petitions for family members are now processed faster, but I have not heard actual stories confirming the veracity of these reports.

Actual experiences from friends and family members:

Auntie and family were petitioned by an unwed sister in the US. It took 8 years for the family in the Philippines to receive official communication (not e-mail ha, but snail mail) from the US embassy in Manila to set an interview appointment. Ending: My aunt and family decided to settle down in the Philippines.

The family of a close friend applied for immigration. They did not hear from the US embassy until 10 years after. My friend, the youngest of the family, was already in her sophomore college year when an interview was scheduled. Again, the family did not receive an e-mail but mailed letter jud. Ending: Only my friend was allowed to immigrate to the US. She's now in Texas actually. The rest of the family members were denied.

Parents are now in the US. Their lawyer advised them that if they were to petition any unmarried children, the waiting time could last anywhere between 10 and 14 years, and most likely, the petition will hurt our chances of getting US visitor's visa approved.

Wish I could share happy stories, but this is how the cookie bounced for most of the people I know.

The best way jud ani noh ky e check pirme sa nag petition ninyu kung unsa na ang status.Family-based immigration takes time jud. Amoa ky F4 lang no.on pero it took 22-23 years before mi gi email-lan. In.ana ka dugay. Probably karon mo na year maka larga or next year.

Unsa nga forms inyu na pass? Mana mo medical ug interview?

). After a few months after sa medical, interview na dayon mo ana sa US embassy sa Manila then if okay tanan inyu files and pasar mos interview, e send ra dayon sa 2GO ang inyu VISA then Pre-departure Seminar nlng dayon ang kulang. If mana mos seminar, good to go na dayon.

Ours took about 21 years before nakalarga but the sad thing only my parents nalang ang eligible mo migrate and the 4 of us siblings all aged out. The best way para mahibaw an nimu if eligible namu to get an immigrant visa is to check always the visa bulletin online, tan awa kun kanus-a inyo priority date.

    OT:

How about US working visa? Kinsa makahatag ug idea about ani?

Let's say, naa jud company nga nag back nimo, like US company, or kanang sa mga seaman nga mo travel sa US territories.

Naa koy officemate sa una, nasangit siya sa US embassy kay gepadala sila sa among office sa Michigan. Taas ba ang probability nga ma hagbong ka or isolated case rana?

depende sa category sa employment visa....

Employment First Preference (E1): Priority Workers- if ni fall ka under ani nga category makalarga daun ka. no backlogs ang processing

Employment Second Preference (E2): Professionals Holding Advanced Degrees and Persons of Exceptional Ability- the same, no backlogs

Employment Third Preference (E3): Skilled Workers, Professionals, and Unskilled Workers (Other Workers) - ex. doctors, nurses, medtech, cpa etc. current year nga ila gi process is april 2007
