Default Can anybody help me? Prob: Computer cannot detect Scanner, but can print(EPSON TX121)

I've been having this problem since last month. When i try to scan with my Epson Tx121, an error like this pops up on my window:

    Cannot communicate with the scanner.
Make sure the scanner is on, correctly setup and connected with no errors indicated.
For detailed information, see Solving Problems in the User's Guide.

Now, i'm pretty sure my Epson TX121 is communicating well with my computer since i don't have any problem with printing.
I'm pretty sure too than my scanner can scan since i can still use my Epson TX121 as a photocopy machine.

I've searched throughout google, only found a few resources which i have tried, but to no avail.

I had this error early December, after a few attempts to fix which didn't yield any result, i did a system restore. I'm not sure if it helped but a few days after, i was able successfully scan. Then after a couple weeks of the same month, i tried to scan again, but the error reappeared. i did a system restore today but it didn't help this time.

    So can anybody help me?

Be sure to Install "Scanner Driver"
Note: (separate ang driver sa scanner ug printer)

    click me ------>Epson Stylus

    click "drivers & support"
    click "drivers & software
    choose "scanner drivers (windows)"
    click "download"

hi processor, the installation process seems to stall when the progress has about 15% from finishing. it has been at it for about an hour now... does it take that long?

    NX120_ASIA_WIN_3772_41.exe < in windows7

its either u extract the driver using winrar < go my computer < ryt click < properties <device manager < click on the USB scanner part with ! < update driver < browse for the extracted NX120_ASIA_WIN_3772_41 folder < browse for the driver

or the win7 itself will browse the content of the extracted NX120_ASIA_WIN_3772_41 folder after u click ok

    if mugawas ni :

    install this driver lang..

    or another option:

right click NX120_ASIA_WIN_3772_41.exe < ran as administrator < yes and yes

    or another option

right click NX120_ASIA_WIN_3772_41.exe < troubleshoot compatibility

    > then mugawas ni

    > click start program

    > then mu-RAN ang application

    and mugawas ni

thank you processor for the help and butitoy for all the effort. i finally got it working. i wasn't able to read your latest instructions though, but your help has been very much appreciated. I did pretty much as you had instructed. at first, i kept installing the *.exe file that i downloaded as per processor's suggestion, even ran it as administrator, but it would still stall towards the end, every time. what i did differently though was i went to device manager and uninstalled the scanner driver under imaging devices. it required me to restart and so i did. then after booting, windows tried to install drivers for my scanner automatically, but it couldn't find any. so i went back to device manager and found my epson scanner under found devices. i tried to simply update scanner driver automatically, but it couldn't find any, so i manually searched for the driver (the one processor provided for me above) and it installed till the end.
so thank you so much everyone.

just incase this might help, here are the things i had tried to remedy this but they didn't work.
    1. as i had mentioned above, i had tried system restore. I'm not sure if it had worked on me once, but it sure didn't work the second time around.
    2. i reinstalled the driver provided in the cd.
    3. i uninstalled and then reinstalled the driver in the cd.
    4. i tried to look for a patch to fix this, but none are available for this printer.
    5. i had tried updating the driver through device manager, but it didn't work.
    6. i followed a certain website's instructions to make sure the windows firewall is not blocking the scanner, so i added this C:\Windows\twain_32\escndv\escndv.exe to the exceptions of the firewall. at first, i did find that my epson scanner was not on the list of exceptions, so i added it to the programs allowed. but it didn't remedy it.

that's as far as i can remember...
