Just saw the pilot for this and I have to say the similarities with Arrested Development are very obvious labi na ang docu/cinema verite shot. Napay adoption2x murag pina "Anyong" katong Korean nga gi-adopt ni Lucille Bluth sa AD.

The pilot was ok. Some uneven acting & so-so dialogue. Pag introduce sa mga characters I wanted them nga lain2x family para dili obvious kaayo nga Arrested Development & I said nga if mag abot gid ni sila tanan sa ending nya related ra diay aw Arrested Development gid kaayog dating. hehe. But I'll see the later episodes how this goes. I sense interesting character arcs for Ty Burrell (Phil) ug Rico Rodriguez (Manny).

Thank you kay imo ni gi-recommend nako. Now I know kung ngano malingaw ang AD fans ani kay murag in lieu of AD kani muy kalingawan. Pero sa pilot wa kaayo ko na ingganyo.

Based pud sa pilot para nako ang maayo lang mo act kay sila rman pud Sofia, Ty, ug Rico. Ang Manny character kay scripted ug wooden kaayo pagka deliver ni Rico pero it works for his character. haha.. Then Ty Burrell's character seems like a renewed imitation sa "Gob" character sa AD pero Ty's delivery is good as well as Sofia Vergara coz she adds Spanish pizzazz.. OK pud unta to si Ed O'Neill (Jay) pero klaro man kaayo rip-off iyang character ni George Bluth Sr. Then naa pud daghan murag characters nga based sa AD.

But anyway, it's good to know that it gets better.

Just saw the first 5 episodes like you suggested osimac93 and I'm probably being a jack-ass right now hahaha but I don't really share the same enthusiasm over this series. I'm especially not fond of the interview portions sa mga parents and why does every episode have to end in a bittersweet note plus narration that gives out the "moral lesson"?

Para nako nahimo nga every episode becomes preachy and formulaic nga murag obvious kaayo nga dapat ang teleplay per episode has to have that obligatory 3-act structure and has to end with a narrated moral lesson, which actually more like dumbs down the audience coz it spoonfeeds the message kada episode.. lols.

So I went ahead sa 6th episode and was surprised to find out there is spontaneity sa kani na episode and I like the fact that for the first time, no narrated "moral lesson" but still giving you that same warm, bittersweet ending. And thank goodness less interviews! hahaha... Kabaw ko muana ka just loosen up or I'm just being hard-to-please but I really wanted to like this. Thanks for the recommendation anyway. I will try to finish the first season though.

hahahaha. daan ku pa jd nga mu comment ka sa bittersweet endings. I actually share the same view with you on that. at first kai ok ra, pero mura'g nagka dugay kai pirmi nlng nag in-ato. but later on, nangawala baya nang mga "moral lessons" part sa ending, like the one you said in episode 6. there are some episodes nga wala gani kaau ni end well. I mean, mura'g bitin ang feeling ba. I dunno which eps na ato pero naa to uban nga in-ana.

I think lahi lang jd ta ug preference and choices of movies and series. hehe thanks for checking it out.
