Ex-poll commissioner on tapes: It's doctored!

MANILA -- Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Benjamin Abalos said former commissioner Virgilio Garcillano should now come out in public, after he admitted having talked to President Arroyo during the election period last year.

"Come out in the open and tell the truth. At least that is fair enough with the people," Abalos urged Garcillano.

The poll commissioner, who has been in hiding for weeks, denied plotting to rig the vote in comments published Wednesday. He said the secretly recorded tape had been tampered with.

"Many of these conversations were doctored," Garcillano said in an interview with a national newspaper.

"Tell the people that the conversations that have publicly come out of the tapes are untrue," Garcillano said. "I never did anything to destroy the electoral process. I am not that stupid."

The tape's emergence last month has caused a political storm that has threatened to bring down Arroyo, who took over when Joseph Estrada was ousted in 2000 over corruption allegations.

Didn't Kit Tatad admit to a Time report that he early on sent the tape to a vocie recognition facility in Australia?

Was this for authentication? Or for doctoring? And how can we be sure now?

For those too young to know, Kit Tatad is a shameless propagandist. He started as editor-in-chief of "The Daily Express" --- a national daily used to the hilt as a propaganda machine by the ousted dictator Ferdinand E. Marcos in propping up his Martial Law and New Society. He is at present an avowed "Opus Die" operator for the Roman Catholic Church. He is also an Erap henchman.

And to think that "propaganda" and "pornography" are close relatives.

According to him, that was for authentication and then ask the advice of some lawyers including Atty. Paguia on what charges should be filed against the persons involved in the tape.

If GMA instructed Garcillano to cheat then why did she make that call 3 days after she was declared winner by the COMELEC?


Solita Monsod said and PREDICTED in one of her columns before the last elections that even FPJ was very popular there was still a big chance that they will lose because the opposition was divided in 5 factions. In fact this was one of the reason that triggered GMA to run for the Presidency.

Hey, correct me if I'm wrong mga bro but I think as what I've heard on the News that Comelec Proclaimed Arroyo 3 days after BUT the counting in the congress is still on going...I repeat again "PROCLAIMED" and not "DECLARED"...In fact Namfrel, on there counting within the Mindanao Regions, FPJ is the one Leading...
