Hi sis. I highly recommend Hotel Palwa . Dili kaayu siya duol sa Boulevard, but its right at the center jud sa Dgte. Free breakfast, wifi. 969 PhP. Very good service. Review naku gamay:

La Viajera: Dumaguete Accommodation: Hotel Palwa

About the sched, I'm not really sure. For us, 7:30am to ning biya ang aircon na bus bound for Santander. There is another bus na diresto jud sa Dgte, mag barge.

La Viajera: Day 1: Meeting Quaint Dumaguete

Hope this helps. =) Good luck sa inyu trip!

Kung first timer ka mu travel for Duma, I suggest you take the direct trip. They are Ceres Bus Numbers 770 to 775. You can board at South Bus Terminal. The conductor will give you two tickets, one for Cebu to Bato, and Tampi to Dumaguete. The Matiao barge is separate, at 70 per passenger, so that will be 140 for you and your bf.

The other route is Cebu - Liloan Port, then you take the fast craft, Liloan to Sibulan, from there, you can take an Easy Ride (Multicab jeepneys) to Dumaguete. More familiar travelers take this route. Fastcraft at Liloan leaves hourly or an hour an a half.

Downtown Dumaguete is walking distance. Imagine, Colon to Plaza Independencia, that's about it, not really very far. Although, people in Dumaguete, being the motorcycle capital of the Philippines, prefer to ride than walk. You have to ride a pedicab (tricycle) if you like to go to Robinson's.

Hotel Palwa is right at the geographical center, it is about 15 minutes walk to the boulevard actually. There is also World View Pension, near Silliman University, Hotel Nicanor which is about 5 minutes walk from the famous Sans Rival, which I am sure you do not want to miss.

Bethel Hotel is right along the boulevard.

Most visitors who need a short stay usually go to CheckInn Plaza or Grand Pensionne... there are also other inns and lodges but they cater to backpackers more.

Hi Tophat! thanks for your reply. Decided to take the direct trip. Do you know the morning schedules for the buses?

Will have a look at CheckInn Plaza or Grand Pensionne.

Also, do you know at what time Hayahay Bar closes?

    Thanks

I am not so sure about the schedule of the Ceres buses now, those 770, 771, to 775 ..but I think the first one leaves at 6am. The trip is about 5 hours, naa na ka sa Duma ana. Calculated na ang drive time nila, that includes barge crossing. of about 40 minutes...usahay 25 ra..ambot wa ko kasabot usahay paspas.. usahay hinay hehehe basta five hours from Cebu to Dumaguete.

Next to 6am, murag alas 8 na arriving Dgte at around 1pm. Dili ko sure ha, mag usab-usab man gud ila skeds.

I think Hayahay stays open all night during weekends, dili pud ko sure kay dugay na ko nakatambay didto, pero once upon a time, I was there until 3am.. sadya pa man hehehehe. Just come over the weekend... I hope you will enjoy.

Katultol na mga pedicab drivers ana Grand Pensionne kay kita man ko nga suot nila tshirts nga may print nga Grand.. as promotion tingali sa hotel.

Have a nice trip... see you at the boulevard...

@tophat: About sa travel time, I agree. I guess depende na jud na sa driver. Our trip from North Bus to Santander was 3 hours ra, surprisingly short. Got on a bus at 7:30, arrived at Lilo-an around 10:30. I was expecting it to be a long ride pero okay ra man diay.
