Intel confirms upcoming motherboard models in marketing materials by VR-Zone.com
We're not sure what's going on at Intel at the moment, but the company seems to be leaking its own products left right and centre. The company has now revealed its upcoming 7-series motherboards in some of its marketing materials and it looks like we can expect an onslaught of motherboards from Intel come Q1 next year.
As you can see from the picture below, the DX79SI and DX79TO will be Intel's only X79 chipset motherboards and both fall in the Extreme category of motherboards, but these are just around the corner and what's much more interesting is what's coming next year. First up we have the DZ77RE (Roads End) which will be a higher-end model than the current DZ68BC and it's rumoured to feature Thunderbolt support, although we'll see if this becomes reality or not. It's more affordable partner in crime is the DZ77GA (Gaspar) and both models should feature what Intel calls Max-OC, suggesting that they're both very overclockable, although that might be by Intel standards.
Moving down to the Media series of motherboards we have one last Z77 chipset motherboard, the DZ77BH (Blue Hills) and this alongside the DZ75SL (Spur Lake) are the only other two of Intel's upcoming boards that features overclocking support, although in this case mid and min OC. The DZ77BH is also one of only three boards to offer dual x8 slots for Crossfire or SLI, with the already mentioned Extreme boards being the other two models.
Next up is the DH77SD (Sundale) which from what we can tell is going to be one peculiar board as it's a mATX model with a pair of mini PCIE Express slots, although one of them appears to be an mSATA slot for SSD caching. This is followed by the DH77DF (Dry Fork) which is Intel's only mini-ITX consumer 7-series board and it too has a mini PCI Express slot, again most likely used for mSATA support. Moving on we have the DH77KC (Knoll Creek) which is a standard ATX board, again with a mini PCI Express slot an mSATA support, just like its mATX sibling the DH77EB (EB lake). All the H77 models sport DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort connectivity.
Last, but not least we have the Executive series which consists of motherboards for the corporate market. Here we have the DQ77MK (Moccasin Peak) which is a mATX board with USB 3.0 support and dual Ethernet. It is followed by the low-profile, or as Intel likes to call them, thin mini-ITX DQ77KB (Kearnens Bend) which also sports USB 3.0. Finally we have the DB75EN (Elkhorn Creek) which is yet another mATX board with USB 3.0 connectivity, but without support for Intel's vPro technology and AMT 8.0.
It's at least nice of Intel to confirm its own roadmap leaks a few months ahead of the launch and this is also suggesting that we'll see the first 7-series chipset based motherboards in March rather than April, since the boards are listed as arriving in Q1. We'll just have to wait and see how things go, but hopefully there won't be any delays or chipset recalls this time around.
