Yeah those timings can often provide headaches for the avg person, but you need to to worry about then they only affect benchmarks that much, in real world usage only the Cache Latency ( CL ) values matter but still not a large impact..

I'll clear it up for you, its not the shops that are to blame for selling you CL3.0 modules.
You go in the store and ask for the cheapest ddr400 module and you possibly get those generic ones that are rated for CL3.0
Or you can opt for another brand and get a CL2.5 module, not that 2.5 to 3.0 has significant performance difference on A64 machines.
