    Default CBCP...going too far?

Jaime Cardinal Sin just cannot rest from his grave. Now, a multitude of wannabes want to emulate the outspoken cardinal but this time it's not against Marcos but GMA. From what I can see, the clergy are more politicized than ever. Ask the militants and they will say, "Welcome to the club Fathers".

i saw this clergy person on tv challenge the president to disclose the real reason behind the asean summit postponement. at first i couldn't believe he was dipping into the matter. but on second thought, he was just asking for transparency from the government, something he believes to be the government's responsibility to the people. his position might just be moral guidance for government officials.

this reminds me of that bibilical story wherein a prophet (si prophet nathan ba to?) rebuked king david for his sins. the good thing was that david was brought to repentance because of the rebuke.

so i guess, translated to modern times, these "rebukes" from clergy are healthy...they provide a balance check to the whole political-social shebang.

Talking about transparency...everyone is crying for that. When it serves their agenda, they demand transparency. When it comes to abusive clergymen, the story becomes different, their usual defense- you are delving my dear on spiritual matters and we don't entertain that. Look what happened to Abellana students...until now that "masahesta" priest is well hidden from public view. This is just one example.

I agree Ms. Beau these are also normal people too but maybe one thing differs is that their biblical counterparts was not tainted with politics. Prophets rebuked but it was in line with spirituality.

bad or good politics, is for everybody. as long as it deals with people, that's politics. the reason why the personalities that you mentioned above enters politics and successfully achieves their agenda is because the people that you didn't mention which is the majority doesn't give a damn.

being very involved in politics or being politicized is not bad per se. in fact it is a good thing that the clergy or the church are getting involved and take the moral side because the constituents are also their flock. that is why it is very difficult to draw the line between church and state.

gone are the days that the priests will just sit down and just give christ-inspired advices in their homilies or sermons to win back their flock. dire times require dire measures. they have to go out to the streets and if that entails being involved in politics, then so be it as long as they take the moral stand.

i really don't like it when priests meddle with political affairs..ug naa pud uban politicians nga musakay pud..siguro kay naa gyud power ang priests..but i don't like the idea of priests meddling with politics..dugay ra kaayo nawala akong faith anang mga klase nga pare..

but it all boils down to the influence sa priests..mao daghan politicians magpa-influence sa kana nga mga priests..sa usa ka catholic community gud, kung ang ilang pari mo-support ana nga kandidato, syempre, ang mga tawo pud, mubutar gyud...although dili siguro tanan but majority..

i hope the people will be more aware sa separation of church and state. i hope pud nga they vote wisely and not by what the priest supports nor what the church endorses..para mawala nana ang influence sa mga priests..mahulog man gud ug mubalik ta sa karaan nga panahon niadtong spanish era..nga ang mga priests na ang dako kaayo ug control sa lugar..hasta ang mga mayor kani-adto controlled sa priests sa ilang place, so mao ra gihapon sama sa kagahapon..

siguro wala gihapon ta ma-usab.siguro history did repeat itself..just my opinion though..
