Default Corsair announces Vengeance gaming peripherals

Corsair has just unveiled its new range of Vengeance-branded gaming peripherals. The range is due to be made up of a number of keyboards, mice and headsets, all of which should be hitting the market soon.

The most eye-catching products in the range are the pair of mechanical K90 and K60 keyboards. Both use Cherry red switches, which Corsair claims offer advantages over the more traditional Cherry black switches thanks to their reduced actuation force, which makes double tapping easier.

The K90 will be targeted at MMO players and features a bank of 18 macro keys, along with an ergonomic full-sized wrist wrest. The K60, on the other hand, is aimed at FPS players and features a unique left-hand-only wrist wrest, as well as a set of optional contoured WASD keys. Both keyboards also boast a solid aluminium exposed chassis and up to 20-key rollover.

The FPS/MMO theme is continued with the two mice - the M90 and M60. The M60, which again is targeted at FPS players, features a special Sniper Mode button, which ratchets down sensitivity when pressed before returning it to normal levels when it’s released.

Meanwhile, the M90 is designed to team with the K90 for MMO players, and features nine macro buttons placed around the thumb area of the mouse. These, Corsair claims, have been placed to be intuitively easy to reach, but just far enough out of the way to avoid being pressed by accident when just browsing the Web. Like the keyboards, both mice feature an aluminium chassis, and they also have a 5,700dpi laser sensor.

In comparison to the mice and keyboards, the new headsets look fairly standard. There will initially be three SKUs in the range (the 1100, 1300 and 1500), each of which will be aimed at a different segment of the market.

The 1100 will be a behind-the-head-style headset, which is intended to be affordable while still offering good audio quality for those that don’t want to break the bank for a gaming headset. The 1300, on the other hand, offers a more premium design, with full circumaural ear cups and large 50mm drivers, which are powered through an analogue 3.5mm jack for those with a discrete sound card.

Finally, at the top of the new range is the 1500 which, like the 1300, is a full circumaural headset. It also brings Dolby Headphone 5.1 Surround Sound support to the party, though, along with a USB connection.

Are you on the lookout for a new gaming keyboard or mouse? Do any of the products Corsair has announced take your fancy? Let us know your thoughts in the forums.
