Filipinos in the United Kingdom (UK) cried foul as a British tabloid columnist talked of “buying Filipino dwarves” in criticizing Hollywood celebrity couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt when they chartered an entire train express there for their kids and entourage.

On August 16, the couple commissioned 14 carriages of Virgin train for them, their kids and entourage for a 5-hour ride from London to Glasgow.

On Aug. 18, “The Sun” guest columnist Rod Liddle wrote: “They should have bought a team of 25 Filipino dwarves to carry them on a giant golden litter all the way up the M6, which they’d had shut for the day.”

Filipinos, who felt insulted for what was perceived to be an insinuation that Filipinos are short in height and are slaves, expressed their displeasure over Liddle’s column on social networking sites.

we should not be too literal about comments from foreign reports. times are hard, let us be practical. just ignore such comments and move on on making money. cause if all of them give a damn on those articles, columnista rai mamikat nila kai nakaginansiya sila ug fame kai gitagad ilang gipangsulat.

The Sun is a UK tabloid who are into sensationalizing news stories and gossips often go beyond in a defamatory manner against parties involved . The writer showed his cynicism and contempt to "Filipino dwarves" in the UK for his few reading audience . Maybe he knew using Filipinos in his satirical column would provoke outrage (you know Filipinos are huge whiners) and thus to make his name famous and gain reading audience he/she wouldn't have . Remember Adam Corolla , ignorant Filipino dwarves took the bait on his satirical rant on Filipinos and his career is now back on track . So the writer took a shot using this style - and it worked !

I bet Filipinos there would go on a protest and ask for this writer's apology . This is what Filipinos are good at ... protesting for a non-sense cause as usual . Looooool ...

If you don't care about the issue, why post?

OFWs work their ass off in a foreign land, with a foreign culture. They spend months or even years away from their families. Now, a foreign newspaper belittles them and calls them "dwarves," and all you can say about your fellow Filipinos is "Keber lang"?

You need not agree with their reaction, but at the very least have the decency to explain why you think they're wrong in reacting to such article. Yaw, intawn nang flippant kaayo na "Keber lang, gamay ra kaayo." You're just wasting space ani na thread.

i may be sarcastic but with all the issues that have hounded our nation, i can say MERESI to us!

we always say "proud to be filipino" but inside us comes greater racism among us. take for example the heroic sacrifices of the philippine azkals. these sportsmen have set aside their football club commitments just to play for our flag. they dont receive salaries playing for the philippines but still they stood their ground and proud to represent us. then comes the typical filipinos who criticize the team as "half-breeds, half-cooked men and dili pure pinoy" terms. these men have filipino bloodlines and are proud of their mother's lineage. LOOK HOW RACIST WE ARE! most pinoys mash up the dragon boat team and the azkals as a pure pinoy vs half-breeds war when in fact both sportsmen from these sports have called for unity and support for each other's back. THEY ARE FIGHTING FOR ONE FLAG.

all i can say is GABA! MERESI! kuwang pa na tawgun ta ug dwarf... kay kita mismo kusog mangunay sa ato kadugo!
