Marcos Maidana vs. Robert Guerrero is a Light Welterweight fight for the WBA World title.






Guerrero (29-1-1, 18 KO) and Maidana (30-2, 27 KO) are both coming off of wins on the same April 9 card, which they effectively co-headlined for Golden Boy and HBO's "Action Heroes" pay-per-view. Guerrero largely dominated Michael Katsidis in a bout between lightweight contenders, while Maidana outpointed Erik Morales in a great 140-pound main event.

Maidana and Guerrero are both looking for the biggest fights they can get, and at the time, it does seem to just make sense for them to fight one another. The Khan vs Judah winner, as Schaefer mentions, would make sense for the winner of this fight, and that could happen late in 2011 or early in 2012, depending on other factors. But first things first, let's hope this one gets made. Good fight for both guys, and a deserved main event position for them, too.

Guerrero’s sharp, accurate, power punches and Maidana’s power in both hands, and constant pressure, in your face style, this could be a war.

If Guerrero can box, and stay out of the toe-to-toe exchanges with Maidana he has a good chance to win. But, Maidana’s pressure and deadly intentions thrown in every punch will look to break down Guerrero and make it a physical fight.
