Default which would you prefer: Common sense OR booksmart?

if you were to choose guys which would you prefer?having a common sense or being a booksmart? I have noticed that most parents nowadays have been wanting their kids to excel academically but they forget to teach them what i find is more important and thats common sense.common sense for me is something acquired by the brain it is not an inborn thing. in my own point of view i prefer common sense, yes there is nothing wrong being a bookworm/booksmart.being one can probably might get you far academically but if you dont have common sense it wont get you anywhere.

the information you gained from reading books is different to applying your knowledge to a situation is another thing. by the way, reading books dont mean that you are gaining knowledge, you are only gaining information but if you apply it to our daily living then you can consider that as a knowledge.

take it for an instance: i dont think one can succeed in their job or what they want to do in life if they dont have common sense because most of the times your job calls you to make decisions right there and then and which cause the person to choose between whats logical and practical and what book wise/theory would be better.

    1. booksmart or common sense? if you say common sense
    2. do you think common sense is acquired or inborn?
    3. do you think everyone really has common sense? what do you think when someone say "BRIGHT MAN UNTA KA PERO BOGO LANG" does it mean he/she's academically smart but just doesnt have common sense?

sometimes it just doesnt make sense, you go to school to be successful in life yet theres heaps of successful businessmen that didnt even finish school but can do the basic mathematics and they made millions! now what do you have to say about this?

Both. These two play well together. You can't be successful with just common sense but without a college degree and as what you said, you can't go far in your career if you don't make the right decisions.

Para sa ako ma'am, mura'g lisud kun usa ra ang pilion. Mura'g complimentary ning duha. Common sense is about making sound judgment/decision based on acquired experience and information.

The more experience you gain and the more information you acquire, the better is your common sense.

To get more information, we should be ready to get it from all possible sources (including books, case studies, etc...). But, as what you've said, useless kining maong information kun dili nato sabton unya dili pud i-apply.

    - forget about this idiocy- surely, the one who speaks this line doesn't even understand the real meaning of it. No such thing.

    what if book doesn't exist?

thats what i am saying sir, the primitive people didnt know how to read and write but they managed to survive and came up with all these brilliant ideas. they didnt have book back 'em old days. na notice lang gyud nako daghan kaayo mga students karon academically smart, maayo kaayo sa math and memorization but once there out there in the real world, murag maka ana ka ba nga bogo man? no offense people ha? ang uban gud nag depend nlang gydu sa ilang nabasahan sa libro and they think that whatever is written in the books are facts. sometimes i cant help but think that these people need to wake up,they seem to be living in dreamland.

Precisely. Being a smartypants at school doesn't showcase your full intelligence. You need to face certain situations to come up with effective ideas or solutions and apply them. That's where your common sense plays a role.

And I don't agree with Common Sense as being common. XD
