I've long heard of the SE Xperia Active. It's the biggest contender then for the Moto DEFY (while both were still in the drawing boards). But it seems only the Moto DEFY materialized while the other still up the bloody clouds.

I just bought me a Cherry Mobile X5 this afternoon. Bought from Junrex for Php3,899. I'll kayak-fishing tomorrow, it'll have it's baptism by fire (or in this case, water) then. I'll see if it's really as tough as it looks, or as Cherry Mobile claims it to be..

Hello herp_doctor. How is your phone holding up? Is it as tough as they claim?
    How is the phone's UI?

    TIA!

The Cherry Mobile X5 is one bloody tough nut to crack. Already proven it's worth when i took it snorkeling intentionally.
The only problem with the waterproofing is that there's a space between the 1st & the 2nd layer which protects he lcd screen. So water goes in-between these layers and creates what looks like an aquarium in your lcd screen. But water never reaches nor touches the main lcd display, since it's sealed protected by the 2nd lcd protector. But it looks wierd having that water in-between both protectors, which you have to shake off. But besides that, it's all peaches.

Now the phone's UI is a different story altogether. i can only analogize to an old man or a slow kid... Input command takes a while before the phone executes them. There's this microsecond delay that's buggering and annoying, specially when you're sending SMS in a hurry.

Overall, i rate this phone in a 7.5/10. The 2 for the laggy UI & the .5 for the silly aquarium feel.
