GAME ASSIGNMENT #4

Topic/Theme: "Human Expressions - Street Candids"

- a photo of street life, i.e street vendors, pedestrians etc. that shows human expressions of being busy or in a hurry, or sharing a laughter together on the street etc.


ladies and gentlemen, you have to go out and shoot for this one hehehe, dili pwede magtinapulan nga anha ra mo shoot solod sa balay... thats what makes photography very interesting!!! i think P&S photographers have a little advantage on this one kay medyo concealed man inyo cams. dslr's are so conspicuous nga basi ma-consious unya ang mga tao.
that is why i'm giving everyone 2 weeks.

NOTE: we can also accept photos taken before the posting of this game, however it should not be more than 3 months old para nindot sad... but of course going out to shoot for this game will make it more exciting

ENTRY # 1 "TRI-SIKAD" ... a family joy riding on their version of trisikad

ENTRY #4 "Tag Dos Lang"
a stark of everyday reality.. a streetchild trying to sell bananas to drivers..


ENTRY # 5 "Loving Thy Work"
Dodong Remar, a boy who enjoys his job as a candle seller at Birhen sa Regla Church.
He goes to school mondays to fridays and works whole day on sundays to save up for his weekly allowance.
Poor Remar? Hmm... He is a happy child.

Love the way the kid is holding onto his candles. Nice candid shot with his smile!!!

my vote: Entry #5 - captures the way of street children, but with a smile.

#2 would have gotten my vote, but i find the background to be distracting. had it been a tighter shot, i think it would have had more impact....

#1 - nice paning... it wud have been nicer if it were a tighter crop to remove the car on the upper right corner of the image

#2 - there is a story in the image, but it wud have been nicer if they were facing the camera... just my opinion... actually this works too, and obviously camera shake is noticeable.

#3 - nice facial expressions, b&w makes does give the effect too.

#4 - this is a good picture, but looks more like a product shot (ang saging)... rather than showing the expression of the seller.

#5 - wonderfull shot, nice crop and great expression... but for me a little more depth of field would have made this better to fit in this game's title in order to show a little of the background ... just my opion again. this is a great portrait shot though

My vote goes to Entry #3.

The choice of black and white suits the atmosphere very well. Even the noise in the picture almost makes me wonder if the image was scanned from an old film (and if it is, i dunno if it's still considered digital photography though). I love the expression on the faces. In my own interpretation it almost feels like their stares were full of contempt. I love it, not to sure if those people felt the same. haha.

My entry would've gone to #5 but I've seen that picture before. I know i've seen it before but I just can't tell who did it.

Great pan capture. The subject placement is spot on. Unfortunately, as great a subject a family on a "trisikad" is, I feel that the expressions on their faces aren't captured enough with the current composition. A tighter crop even sacrificing a little of the bike would've been enough to put them in a scene on the bike as well as capture enough of the actual expressions on their faces.

Good subject choice unfortunately can't really see much of an expression here except for the inferred expression of love that comes with pushing a family member on a wheelchair. I know this was probably an opportunity snap shot but a shot from the front would've been a lot better at capturing the expressions on the faces.

The banana's look fine but the subject is expression and the thing (face) that does a whole lot of expressing has been severed and replaced with another subject.

My vote, well all the entries are good but the most of them all..
Entry # 2

Perfect for the game assignment "Human Expressions - Street Candids"
Although camera shake is pretty much obvious but what the heck its one classic street photography. Entry # 1 can be considered but the overall impact is different compared to Entry # 2. You could really see how those people struggle everyday in the streets and will also give you an impression that the picture was really taken out in the street.
