Hello Bro, Im no professional, but have learned a few in photography.

If you meant a nice walk-around lens, I suggest you start with your kit lens and learn from there. Then you might want to upgrade to a more decent lens like a sigma 17-70 f2.8-4, tamron 17-50 f2.8. You can buy 2nd hand or grey units(No OEM warranty) online or in some stores here in Cebu. If you want brand new, there are a lot of stores to choose from like photoshop, macy's, pixelpro, or gizmo.

As for the lens hood, its size depends on what the lens is designed for (lens hoods for wide-angle, medium to super zoom lenses vary). Each are designed to avoid flare yet not to cause any vignetting in the images.

    Hope that helps.

If brand new, the price range for either one is between 18k - 23k depending on the shop.

You cant go wrong with either one bro. I have tried the sigma 17-70 though and have been happy with it! You can test out both lenses before you buy it so you can feel how it handles and balances on your 550D. Just be sure to get a good copy.

well if walk around imo gusto, pwd ka either 18-135 or 18-200. at least with one lens, ma cover nimo tanan. you can do landscapes, group shots, and zoom in for macro and intimate shots. these lenses are also good for portraits. research on those lenses nlng pud. google is your friend.
