If you know HTML basics I think you can get along well with PHP. Logic also helps.
If you know java, that would be a plus on learning PHP; much more when you have learned C; because both and php are very related... php is very simple that I have learned it in 5 minutes and created a website after..
PHP - Very well documented, very easy to learn and currently my language of choice.
Kung ikaw nang naa sa imo avatar kay pde tika tudluan one on one =P just kidding.
btaw, my advice? immerse yourself in the language. Taking classes is OK. But to really get into it? immerse yourself in the language. Pick a project and do it. Set up a timeline. That way you can keep on challenging yourself.
Here's your first one:
Make a simple login page that checks the username and password against either a database or hard coded data. Database will be optional since it gets things a little complicated.
It's terribly unoriginal but it will help you get started. 2 days should be enough to finish this one. If you have more specific questions, leave it here. We'd be happy to help out.
After that, take it another level. This time, definitely, use a database. Use sessions, track members, make an auto responder, so on and so forth.
Good Luck.
