Default Kapamilya Winner Ka (February 20, 2011)

We got a chance to shoot a local game show called Kapamilya Winner Ka (In English, roughly Family Member You're a Winner). With me were Aris Arnado and Michael Jay Sasoy. I hope they can post their photos here too.

It's very difficult to shoot a game show like this. For one thing, I was using manual focus lenses and was swapping them like crazy. But the most perplexing is how a photographer can shoot these events artistically.

Or is event photography more about shoot plenty now, select later

Man, I had to use ISO 1600. Those with full frame and VR/IS lenses would fare better I think.

I believe the lady in black is the choreographer. This is during a warm-up during the show.

The staff are walking the contestants through the motions. That is, how to act when they're called and when they win.

A customary shooting the shooter photo with an attempt to frame him between two dancers.

I'd never been/seen shows like this before. But I can only imagine how scarce the lighting is.

I thought paper prompts went out of style ages ago. Meron pa pala.

Well, if you can trust your camera's exposure algorithm and are shooting in RAW, then I guess it's okay. With that said, I don't trust my cam's algorithm and I didn't shoot in RAW because if I did the latter, then I'd have run out of memory before the show was over.

This is my 2nd time inside a noon-time show (I was still grade 1 when we went to Eat Bulaga) so I said to myself, why not try to shoot one. The studio was freezing. The cold temperature was needed to make sure all those lights and equipment don't overheat.

Man, I'd like to ride one of these in the future. It would be great to have one to get those uniquely angled shots from up high.

Yes, but I'm not sure whether you can take photos without permission. I just have a friend from the inside. I actually took an "accidental as in wala gituyo" shot but since I'm not one of those who post indecent shots like those in now a deleted thread (wink wink), then that shot will only be in my memory ... card.
