is there a need to take MINOR subjects in college?!

for example:
we take up physics, chem, physical education, calculus bla bla...when the course is Mass Comm? what?!
how are those crap related to the course you took? and these minors are giving us headaches more than the majors in some/most instances, right?

let's not be hypocrite. no sugar coating.
for those college grads, how many percentage have you LEARNED in college?
and how many are actually practicing their fields?
when you look for a job, are you asked to memorize a multiplication or a periodic table when you're an IT grad?

we dont get everything in college.
we learn more from our natural experiences.

Know what, those minor subjects are helping me a lot.
I am a computer engineering graduate.
Engineering Management, English, Social Sciences are few of them.
If we look in a broader perspective, those minor subjects are helping us grow as a person.

Nope. BUT, do you think you can perform your job if you do not know how to multiply?

Suggest nako sa imo TS, since you cannot get a degree if dili nimo i-pass ang mga minors, get the most out of it nalang. Makatabang na sa imo, though not daily, but in certain points sa imo life.

That's just the thing. College is supposed to prepare you for anything. I'm inclined to agree with you when I was a student. But now, I do thank the inclusion of the minor subjects. I'm a Computer Science graduate by the way, but I'm currently an officer at a meat processing company. I handle production & demand forecasting (statistics), public relations (English & speech classes), sales (economics), marketing (business trends), events (CWTS, LTS, or ROTC), customer service (speech, law, and even sometimes religion), plant expansion & upgrades (physics and engineering). At this era, employers are more inclined looking for applicants with a lot of skills. In other words, someone whose well-rounded in all aspects. That's someone that the employer would consider having him manage the company at some point in time.

Yup, when I was still studying I was thinking the same as you are TS. But don't take for granted those minor subjects, they become handy believe me. I'm actually thankful I took them all up.

Remember: College is all about preparing you for a bigger university after you march down. Isn't that graduation day is called "Commencement Exercise" Commencement means- beginning. It's a start of a long journey ahead and you always have an edge if you have the right sets of knowledge.

mo-add lang pud ko.. ever heard of globalization? err.. ayaw nlng nah kay broad kaayo..

kani nlng.. imagine if walay minor subjects.. kulangan ang imong units required para eligible ka to work in other countries. kulangan naman gani daan og 2 years ang secondary education diha sa atoa.

pabor ng minor labi na ligoy ka nga estudyante kay dali ra ma-pasar.. kung major tanan.. hahaha.. daghan siguro mag hemorrhage para lang ma meet ang units required. lolll.

There were a lot of things which I learned from minor subjects in college....nga wala jud nako mahibaw i sa hi skol.....minor subjects introduced me to new things.....i had read more books in my minor subjects than to my major subjects...hahahhahahhaha
