I don't think the XT720 can be upgraded to 2.2 Froyo, it's stuck @ 21. Eclaire. No updates Froyo updates are available for this unit.

Anyway, up for your nice Moto android...

there was a root for xt720 in xda-developers, and there was a custom rom the nandroid, the problem is not all functionalities are working, but the korean version of the xt720 has already release the 2.2 update
maybe soon xda-dev can port the korean version, htc androids are much more easier to upgrade unlike motorola units
