    Default When religion goes too far...and it often does

    This just in from CNN: Sudanese woman flogged for wearing trousers. Click here to see the video.

    A shocked passerby can be heard exclaiming, "There is no authority but God's" after witnessing the woman's punishment. One of the officers responds: "This is a fundamental principle. Let him whip her."

    One common denominator among most religions is this: It is obsessed s-e-x and the woman's body (like an anorexic or bulemic is obsessed with food), as if they're the most sinful things decreed by heaven. Just compare the howls the religious leaders make between things like condoms or a bikini party at a private resort and a religiously-instigated genocide in Rwanda. In other words, they can close both eyes and shut their mouths on mass murder but wont let a woman wearing trousers go unpunished.

    I'll leave with this beautiful quatrain from the 12th century Persian poet and mathematician Omar Khayyam:
    And do you think that unto such as you;
    A maggot-minded, starved, fanatic crew:
    God gave the secret, and denied it me?--
    Well, well, what matters it! Believe that, too.

    The requirements are furnished as I may emphasize,
    but the pre-requisites are there to enforce and is created by man.
    We humans are so inclined in harming ourselves and those with us,
    that is why measures are made just for deterrence.IMO

    "Thou shalt not kill"
    then what are the adjuncts,
    love thy neighbours,
    be compassionate
    humilty..etc.
