    martin gore is a very underated song writer that he manage to touch people in a way that a very few song writers have been able to do

    I don't think he's underrated at all ... you also have to consider that Depeche Mode has a very limited fanbase. His recognition isn't that widespread.

    Yes.... limited fanbase compared to their mainstream counterparts. When they came out.. everyone was listening to Rick Springfield, Cindy Lauper, Menudo, etc... Even during the late 80's.. the whole newwave scene was sitting behing the GLAM ROCK era.
    When I was in highschool, there were only a handful of us "new-wave fanatics".. everyone was into whatever it was that was out around the mid-late 80's. That's why I'm saying that the band's fanbase is limited compared to, let's say, GUNS N ROSES.

    By the way, Fansites are always there.... if you would type some Scandinavian Metal Band like DIMMU BORGIR, chances are there would be at least a thousand results on google.

    informative. but i think there are still depeche mode die-hard fans up to this day, even if they were born 15 mins later from their time. i'm one of 'em.

    I just don't understand why violator is their best selling album when its not really a fan fav. record where most of its track are dark and very sad songs. coz I just dont want that album to be mainstream coz I love it so much that I'm too selfish that I dont even share it with my friends.
