Default Wikipedia on RH Bill: after reading it, what is your stand?

Check this out!! Reproductive Health Bill (Philippines) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wikipedia has many, if not all, of the arguments pros and cons. This is what they are debating about now in the Senate...

Read it carefully and weigh the pros and cons.

What do you think is the right stand?

Stop and think guys!! Imagine you are a senator deciding on the fate of this nation!

Do not answer if you have not read at least the summary of the article at the top.

Like in the Senate, add one sentence on why you chose your stand and not the other.

hhhmmm...newbie or just a new handle?

after reading the contents on the link i still stand firm on my stand. pro RH here...

Kudos to the TS for being fair and balanced... unlike similar threads before this which were clearly one sided to favor the TS' bias.

I'm pro-RH but I believe they need to be specific as to what kinds of contraceptives are allowed. They need to scientifically study which contraceptives are deemed abortifacients thereby violating the law on abortion as stated in Sec 3.m. of the RHB.

Im pro RH but the details of the bill need to be ironed out..

I'm with RH. We need to control our population because resources are getting scarce. With contraceptives unwanted pregnancy of a family can be prevented thus giving them a chance to better their life because they do not need to worry about raising a kid they are not prepared for. If it does lower abortion, then why not. It would be absurd if we say that to lower unwanted pregnancy we have to stop having s3x. If it's up to me, they should start teaching safe s3x in highschool.

Wa mo naka pansin, while ang pro cge offer ug benifits about aning RH ang anti ani cge ra ug discredit sa mga benefits nga gi offer sa RH. Wala man gani sila ni offer ug alternative solution.

If they don't want it because of their religious beliefs.. ilabay na sa bintana inyoha belief...

church and it's religion has always been slowing man's progress...

Wikipedia, although I do not like getting my source sa Wikipedia, at least it is fair. Nice...

I'm always for the passing of the RH Bill. I think currently sa House there are different Bills, 3 I think. Dapat guro mas klaro and more specific siya. Nevertheless, I still support the RH Bill.

Care to explain your reason for saying it doesnt solve poverty and is coercive?

If you are against the bill, then please offer an alternative and realistic solution.

Is it really a freedom of choice? it disregards the right of non-choosing of several people.... thats why its coercive...

    alternative solution:
    a. Decongest cities through rural development
    b. Improve Education and Do aggressive skills training for the poor
    c. Give incentives for businesses operating in rural areas
    d. Mandatory minimum 2 years service for all graduates of all Universities in the country.

mau pa na aku mahunhunaan..heheheh... this is not my area of expertise pero i think there are much more productive measures the government can do that provide opportunities of sexcapades....

    Say what? Lol

So it's not freedom of choice since it disregards the right of people not to choose which method of family planning they want to use?

    Coercive... wow...

Logic sad intawn.... the right of non-choice is not a choice neither is it a right.. disregarding non-choice is essentially giving people the opportunity to choose.... asa ba ang coercive ana oi... anu ba,.
    alternative solution:
    a. Decongest cities through rural development
In short.. pahawa-on ang squatters and give them opportunities sa provinces... sounds good.. pero what if Dili sila ganahan? Dili ba ni COERCIVE? lol

    b. Improve Education and Do aggressive skills training for the poor
Were already doing this (building schools and TESDA) pero still kulang gihapon ang budget and the # of schools is not enough to meet the # of children and limited ra ang budget so we can't just spend like crazy on education alone.

    c. Give incentives for businesses operating in rural areas
You mean subsidize private sector firms... and where do you suppose we get the money for that? This will entail budget cuts which will adversely affect the ability of our government to deliver social services...

    d. Mandatory minimum 2 years service for all graduates of all Universities in the country.
Ikaw ra ni ingon... COERCIVE... mas grabe pa ni imohang solution. Unsa ning 2 years service... wala ni salary? dili kaha ni slavery? If sweldohan nimo, where will you get the money? Also if sweldohan nimo, these graduates will be taking away jobs you could have given to those who can't afford school or need the jobs more.

mau pa na aku mahunhunaan..heheheh... this is not my area of expertise pero i think there are much more productive measures the government can do that provide opportunities of sexcapades....
Definitely not ur area of expertise... sayon kaayo hunahuna-on pero ang problema is pag execute ani given the real world scenario.

Also, Studies have shown that there is no correlation between reproductive health education and increased sexual activity.

Does *** education lead to earlier or increased sexual activity in youth?

Baldo M, Aggleton P, Slutkin G; International Conference on AIDS.
    Int Conf AIDS. 1993 Jun 6-11; 9: 792 (abstract no. PO-D02-3444).

WHO Global Programme on AIDS, Geneva, Switzerland.

In response to policy maker's objection that *** or AIDS education may encourage sexual activity in young people, a review of studies on the effect of *** education in schools was carried out. Most of these studies are restricted to changes in students' knowledge or attitudes. Out of eighteen studies reviewed, only seven had evaluated sexual practices of students exposed to *** education. These seven studies, all from the USA, indicate a clear trend: In no study was there evidence of *** education leading to earlier or increased sexual activity in the young people who were exposed to it; In four studies *** education led to a delay in the onset of sexual activity; Two studies showed that access to counselling and contraceptive services did not encourage early sexual activity. Programmes which promoted both postponement and protected *** when sexually active, were more effective than those promoting abstinence alone. *** education programmes were found to be more effective when given before young people become sexually active. There is an urgent need to determine if *** education has similar effects in different cultures.
The theory that *** education leads to increased *** activity is inconclusive at best... anyone who tells you otherwise does not have the scientific data to back it up.
