Default 5.1 Surround Digital Amplifier, Optical ready

Don't know much about the device but I do know that we need it to make all 5 speakers of our 5:1 home theater sound through a WD TV Live media player. So, does anyone have one of these babies for sale?

If the post sounds ignorant please feel free to correct me on the technicalities of the amp. Thank you

are your hd movies audio encoded with dts?
    i feel your pain.
it's either you have to buy a new 5.1 system with optical in. the cheapest brand new i can find is the samsung home theather with optical in. around 8k.

or re-convert all your HD movies from DTS to any available audio format. it may be time consuming if you dont have a powerful computer. but instead of spending more upfront. a little sacrifice with the audio quality almost unnoticable. is the best way to go.

Above is the media detail that I have fro one of the HD movies I got in my hard drive.

I'm planning on playing the HD movies that I miraculously obtained from the internet through the WD TV live that we just bought. And according to the nice and sexy tech guy that we spoke to, media players do not support the 5.1 home theater that's packaged with the tv we just bought. He said that if we were to use it only the front 2 will work.

And to get it working with a media player it needs to go through an AMP, thus the post. Thanks sa info bro

an ac3 audio codec will work fine. having a dts codec that would be a problem and you really need to pass it thru an optical input.

are you using the hdmi when connecting the wd tv live thru your lcd? then you really wont have any problem with the audio. because the hdmi carries both video and audio digitally.

just try it before buying anything. if all the speakers work then good if not then it's your HD video file. i find it weird that your sexy tech guy would let you buy a new amp for this.

btw what is the model of your tv set and the 5.1 home theather?

From what I understand, the media player (WD) separately connects the TV and the speakers, since the 5.1 speakers are not built in on the TV. So, what happens, I believe, is that the media player connects the TV through HDMI while the speakers connects to it through the optical Audio out. Does that sound right?
