Default Birthday of Blessed Virgin Mary - Why not a holiday?

Mao jud ni ako pangutana every 8th of September: Why Malacaņang wouldn't declare this day a holiday? Daghan kaayo holiday ilang gipang declare pero wala jud ni. Gi declare nila ang End of Ramadan na holiday, which I think also na angay sad jud to give respect to our Muslim brothers and sisters. Ang ako lang ba, na i-declare pud unta ni nilang holiday kay we are a Catholic country.

    What's your take on this?

and celebration sa end of ramadan is proportionate in importance man na sa ato xmas. di na sad guro ideclare pa ang bday ni mama mary uy. or else ideclare nalang nila tanan birthday sa mga saints or uban pang religious figure.

Let me add that the Philippines has way too many holidays from the local to the national level.

Dili na siguro kay si Mother Mary dili same ug believers ni Jesus Christ which are the Christians in General but some of them only believe in Christ not in Saints. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The devotees could still celebrate it on their own,
No need for any holiday whatsoever.

    That's right. I agree.

Another thing - not all Christians are exactly subjects of Mary. They can decide on their own to worship and honor her or not.
