Default IBM Thinkpad R40 won't detect any USB devices

Good afternoon! Mga bro, I got a problem of IBM Thinkpad R40. It won't detect any USB devices. Have tried hard disk enclosure both usb 1.1 and usb 2.0 but it couldn't detect either. I also tried flash disks usb 1.1 and 2.0, still won't work. I just post this topic to get some useful tweaks, advices and solutions inorder to resolve this problem. Thanks in advance.

yap...better to bring it up there... before anything happens...

    here's my suggestion..

your driver for that usb host controller is not working... maybe because of some updates(like sp2, windows update) that cause the driver to overwrite its default driver or support software...

i experience also this one... i installed with a driver not related to the host device driver... like I use driver from another ibm notebooks software... and it works well...

some driver are still have bugs for ibm product... try to find it in the ibm website maybe there was an update to the driver inorder to work with new updates...
