    Default Agro-Science

    We are an agricultural country.
Yet, we can't even supply the demand of our rice intake.
    This is very helpful.

In drought-prone Sahel, scientists roll out innovative system for producing vegetables

    any agriculture students here?

Drought resistant crops are just part of the answer. Malas kaayo tang dapit ta sa typhoon belt. Every year bagyohon, crops are lost. Compare to the USA midwest, walay bagyo, halos walay drought. MAo daghan ila yields. self-sufficient sila sa food..

We are punished by excess water during the flood season, and lack of water during el-nino. Maski asa ka, pildi jud ka.

Although wala jud ta mabuhat about the typhoons, siguro a proper irrigation system would be nice. pero considering PH is made up of tiny islands, lacking jud ato water resources.

Too sweeping a statement--Mindanao does get hit by typhoons. In fact, three of the 10 strongest typhoons to ever hit the Philippines passed by Mindanao. Ruping (1990) also hit Mindanao, and we were affected there by the typhoon as well. Same goes for Undang and Nitang (both 1984). I was in Mindanao on all three occassions.

Most of Northern Mindanao was affected by these typhoons. Northern Mindanao includes Surigao, Agusan del Sur/Norte, Lanao del Sur/Norte, Misamis Oriental/Occidental and Bukidnon, and include cities such as Ozamis, Iligan, CdO, Ginoog, Butuan and Surigao Cities.

and how frequent do typhoons hit this areas?
compared to northern luzon, eastern luzon and eastern visayas?
