Aug 30 (Last night)
Wheeeeeeeeeeeew! Dang I spent for hours last night trying to revive my phone. It died (blinks white on and off when I turn it on) after my first attempt to flash it with the latest software. Thanks to Jah and Spawn from esato and my-symbian, I was able to revive my phone after four hours. I kept on reflashing it again and again on the my desktop it just wouldnt go in, until finally I tried it on my laptop and it worked with just one try! Geeez!
Lolz! Apparantly the update software files get corrupted on my desktop when downloaded and it causes the update to fail.
Anyway, ITS ALIVE! Imgaine what my day wouldve been if I my P990 remained dead, Id be in Ayala waiting for SE service center to open right now lmao!
So today, on my available time, I will installing the original softwares that got erased after the update, and I'll prolly be buying some new essential softwares online and doing all this while working hehehe.
So.. Ill take a few minutes no to comment about the first part which I have basically covered
SE P990 BUILT
Before the P990 was released I have been receiving a lot of comments about it buying flimsy, this is not trued at all. They said the battery cover flip would come out easily for those people that have the battery with the model number BST-33. I have BST-33 and the cover the slip at all, they do have a spacer in the form of a black plastic like foam stuck on the back cover, I do not know if this was an additional add-on which prolly caused the delay of the phone since they had to open all the boxes and phones just to stickem in.
Flip is prettey firm, and you know what I actually like the keyboard inside espcially when you are in a hurry, it comes in handy when looking for names or typing in numbers, might just give it a try using it without the flip, when my screen protector arrives. Anyway, back to the flip, I like the new layout there is just one thing the confuses me, on the bottom part of your screen(while the flip is closed) there are labels, and the middle label is the label for the middle center key of the navipad, I keep on confusing it with the up key.
Camera button is a little too deep but I think the problem is really is the sound, the clicking audio is too low when taking pics, still going to try to figure out how to make it louder.
Phone overall feels SOLID. a little thicker than the P900 I had but it feels firmer on the grip. I like it. the Satin finish gives it a very elegant look, and so far I am having ni regrets.
---------------Up next a little on software (so far after the update, speed has improved but there are still some quirks here and there.----------
Aug 31, 12noon:
Add on the Built, I have a customized P900 leather case, and I kept on wondering on earth would the camera turn on when I pull it out of the case even with the keypad lock on. Then I noticed, that even with the Keypad lock on, if you open the camera lense cover, it turns off the keypad lock and runs the camera app. Its really because of my case because its too tight, buy I believe they should put an option to disable "camera on when lense cover opens" because it may be good for photgraphers using the phone and they want to take a quick snapshot but, its a terrible function for business men who usually have belt cases.
Also, my GSM and 3G provider has there 3G all screwed up wanted to test that right away with my wifes K800. I also called my provider about sending me some over the air configs for WAP and GPRS turns out they dont have any yet. WIll check SE site later if they do.
A little feedback on software, I think the New U.I. is slow, needs major software upgrade, and the tip to launch video player and not exit found on P990/M00 tips and tricks really doest work! Smile Speeds up access on aps but takes away the art. Also new U.I. will take the P900/P910 owners a lot of getting used to caused its totally different. Dont expect to just buy this phone and use it right away. I suggest to have your old phone with you and get a 1 month SIM to play around with on your P990 so that it wont irritate you during your business transactions.
-----------------------Update-------------------
Sept. 4
I was able to play with the phone for quite some time thought so here are some quick inputs:
- WIFI works Perfectly but built in browser has issues (exits and gives you a kernel error) So i need to but/download a different browser to test with.
CORRECTION: Built in browser is in fact OPERA na diay the best available browser and the error is linked to the way UIQ3 is handling it.
- Task manager works great, allows you to end and switch to different tasks easily and this is quickly access with flip open. (@comicGeek.. ala tracker style but built in sa UIQ3)
- Calling Card Scanner works AMAZINGLY well, you would be surprise, no flaws at all.
- It works perfectly well with my BLUETOOTH PLantronics 640 headset (Still need to test it with my Jabra Stereo headset)
- Camera takes amazing photos too.(will try to post pics soon)
- I cant seem to find "speaker phone mode" because on the P900 or P910i when you open the flip auto na cya mu speaker phone, still looking for that.
- P990 Comes with 2 games Quadrapop and VJsing Golf, It also comes with Quickoffice (Word, exel, powerpoint viewer and editor) and A PDF Reader.

Just tested it with my Jabra 620's bluetooth stereo headphones.
After pairing it. I clicked on the device (under bluetooth settings/headsets and put a checkmark on:
Trust this Device
Enable as audio
Then I went to music player, played music and it worked well. Then I made call and it automatically paused the music and transfered the call, when I ended the call it transfered the stereo music back to the headset. Works like a charm, will try to use this the whole day today and test bat life. Btw, I have the latest firmware already. Heard there were some issues with the earlier firmware.

RSS feed functionality. - One of the functions I like about the P990, this is also available on other SE phones like the K800. It allows you to download news articles or blog feeds etc.. just like on istoryas blog page.
When you have internet connection you can update all these feeds, then have them with you the entire day for your reading pleasure.
Problem found:
P990 RSS seems to feed text only and doesnt feed pictures, my test was trying to Feed my flickr account, on my wifes K800, its feeds all my pics but on the P990, it gets the text only. This isnt really a major issues, and im still trying to figure it out.

Noticed a minor bug today:
Some numbers that I dial I cannot find on the dialled numbers list. Im still experimenting why.
One thing that I love is that you can already access all your SMS folder in flip closed mode. Also, when before, on the P900, when you are composong a message on flip close mode and a call comes in it is automtically moved to draft folder and can only be accessed through flip open mode But on the P990, that doesnt happen anymore, when a call comes phone switches you to PHONE mode to take the call and when the call is done, it brings you to the main menu, but with just one keypress (entering the messaging ap with up arrow key on the d-pad) you are back to your un-finished message.
Also forgot to mention, bought 3 applications yesterday,
HandySafe
Worldmate
Advance Call Manager (ACM)
All of them installed, so far handysafe and worldmate ive tested and are working perfectly. And advance call manager I have yet to test.
