    Default nokia N8 (prototype)

i got a nokia N8 prototype this afternoon with me courtesy of Nokia Philippines.
sad thing to report, phonebook implementation is very similar to other latest e/n series phones.
active voice cancelation doesnt seem to be part of the feature set (again so stupid since video recording already works with noise reduction...hardware its very much capable)

there is sort of cut and paste under the phonebook but no cut and paste available anywhere else...would have been very usefull in the browser, writing msgs, etc. i remember when i bashed iphone when it first lauched without cut and paste, i can't believe nokia is doing it right here STUPID!
the sim compartment is very hard to open. i had to open the memorycard compartment first (which isnt that easy to open as well) before i could open the sim compartment.frustrating! hope they iron it out of the retail version. ahmmm, the home button needs some getting used to...its small kasi for my liking.

everything else looks great. very fast indeed compared to any other symbian phone ive tested. used it all afternoon none stop, battery is holding very well, full bar parin. no surprise since walang wifi...yeah, its crazy i know. also didnt play any music much. videos capture and playback looks stunning. im truly impressed. loud speaker sound is full and clear no clipping. voice call is impressive even though it doesnt seem to have noise cancelation...its crystal clear. everyone i called says so. no noise or hissing at all. photos are very impressive (even in low light) so far it hasnt hang or any errors at all. photo/video editors is best in any phone ive tried. very smooth and fast with fantastic effects.

i use 3.5G under globe. though i notice when im not running any app that connects to the internet i get 3G on the display. when im surfing it switches to 3.5G.

Wow, nice phone Mark. 12 MP.
Was that phone for free or what? If your gonna sell it in your shop. How much would that be?

mas nice ang n8 in that its smaller, thinner, aluminum, etc. its sleeker

but personally i prefer real keys talaga...i keep saying that and its still true for me.
and the fact that i have no need for its fabulous camera in that i bring a real high end camera with me everyday anyways.

other than that, both are great considering n8 is at an early prototype stage its showing very high potential however at this point the n900 is more mature software wise

Wow! Thanks for sharing some of your insights with the phone mark. I read/watch a lot of prototype reviews on the net since it was announced last April 27, 2010, but hearing it from you mark sounds more exciting. Hoping for your full initial (prototype) impression soon. This is definitely my next phone.

    last time i checked
cut, copy paste won't be implemented with Windows phone 7 as well,
because as per user research according to them people don't use that feature often so instead will,
features a systemwide data detection service which recognizes things like phone numbers and addresses so you can take action on them. Third-party apps can hook into this service, so that an email address can be routed to the email client of your choice, but there's no copy and paste functionality.
so sa N8 with Symbian^3, unsa man ila approach ana sa imo nabantayan while using your protoype?
