Eligibility Requirements
Education
CIA candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree or its educational equivalent from an accredited college level institution.
Character Reference
CIA candidates must exhibit high moral and professional character and must submit a character reference from a CIA, an individual with another IIA certification, the candidate’s supervisor, or the candidate’s professor. The character reference must be submitted with or directly following the candidate’s application.
Professional Experience
Candidates are required to complete a minimum of 24 months internal auditing experience or its equivalent prior to receiving the CIA certification. Experience verification should accompany the candidate’s application if the requirement has been met or may be submitted later when the requirement has been met.
Equivalent experience means experience in audit/assessment disciplines, including external auditing, quality assurance, compliance, and internal control.
Either a master’s degree or work experience in related business professions (such as accounting law, or finance) can be substituted for one year of experience.
A CIA, an individual with another IIA certification, or the candidate’s supervisor must verify work experience.
Candidates may sit for the CIA exam prior to satisfying their experience requirement, but they will not be certified until all program requirements have been met.
Code of Ethics
CIAs and CIA candidates must agree to abide by the Code of Ethics established by The IIA. (A Copy of the same will be furnished.)
The CIA Exam
The CIA exam tests a candidate’s knowledge of current internal auditing practices and understanding of internal audit issues, risks, and remedies. The exam is offered in four parts, each part consisting of 125 multiple-choice questions for 3.5 hours.

Professional Recognition Credit for Part IV (PRC-IV)
Candidates with certain professional certifications may receive credit for Part IV through Professional Recognition Credit in lieu of the exam part. The IIA does not offer Professional Recognition Credits for Part I, II, or III of the CIA exam, which are defined as the core global syllabus. The Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is an approved certification for the Professional Recognition Credit in lieu of Part IV.

The 2010 Cebu CIA Review Seminar
The CIA review is primarily designed to train candidates for the CIA examinations. However, because of its exhaustive coverage of the worldwide common body of knowledge for internal auditing, the course is at the same time a comprehensive multi-session seminar that meets regular training requirements of internal audit departments and other company officials.
Instructors. The review instructors are from a selected pool of experienced, and certified internal audit professionals (CIA, CISA, CCSA) many of whom hold senior audit management positions in top corporations.
Sessions. Review sessions are conducted every Saturday and morning of Sundays for at least 12 consecutive weeks. A calendar of review dates will be provided to each enrollee at the start of the review.
Methodology. Review sessions are done by way of extensive interactive lectures using advanced multi-media facility, with problem-solving and case studies for better input appreciation.
Review Materials. Reviewees are provided with necessary materials with free use of Gleims review materials. Instructors for each session shall distribute copies of presentation slides and additional text as needed.
Mock Exams. To better prepare candidates and to provide a venue for self-assessment, mock examinations are given depicting actual exam conditions.
Venue. The review sessions are conveniently held at AVR- Aboitiz Bldg., Banilad, Cebu City
Review Fees.* The review fee ¬is pegged at P27,000 for the duration of the review. This will cover the review of Part I, II and III exams and already includes lunch, snacks and review materials. One can also attend the review on a per session basis. Review fees on a per session attendance will be arranged by the IIA secretariat depending on the topics.
*Review fees are separate from the CIA exam fees. Fees should be paid before the start of the first session and are non-refundable. Part IV of the exams is not covered in the review.
